4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured into a pint glass out of a growler from Libation Station in Johnson City, TN.
Pours a clear dark reddish-brown with a thick off-white head. Really good head retention and lacing.
The aroma is full of pine and earth along with a noticeable roasty character. Also toffee and caramel all working in perfect harmony with the hops. A really nice balance and definitely more British than American.
The taste has more in the way of hops than the aroma with tons of pine along with a little bit of Earthyness and dank. Just a tiny amount of citrus in this one. Nice malt character with caramel and toffee and just a little bit of roast. Very assertive long lasting bitterness along with a full and creamy mouthfeel.
Overall, while this is only 6% it feels like a much bigger beer with the substantial mouthfeel. A great IPA and one of the best beers I have had from Highland.
Bottle about a year old that my father-in-law fetched from under the stairs; luckily their basement is a decent cellar temp. I was surprised how well this IPA stood up. Decent hop character and bitterness still around. A little malt and a little spice to fit the winter season too. Nice enough. CMcGraw (30) - Spartanburg, South Carolina, USA - SEP 26, 2016
Poured from a 12oz bottle into a a glass. Reddish orange in color. Small amount of cream colored head. Grapefruit and bread taste. Overall fairly good tasting IPA. Not too overwhelming on the hops though.

So, ok, from a bot this is a red IPA? OK so, again, let’s make a red IPA style? Fer sure the aroma is rich deep dull. White, red, black, what else? FO! This is simply a darker IPA and its not black, its just dark like a yingy. Yes, bitter and all that shit for an ipa and there you have it, another ubiquitous ipa brew. Lets all jump on the bandwagon, ips this and ipa that and ipa wtf. Go figger, its ipa barmy. And, guess what, it’s inspired by the devil himself, what evvvvvah. Pours a clear coppery/darker reddish color with off-white head. Pine, light fruits, floral notes, and some light biscuit on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied. Finishes with light fruit and bread. Savage_Night (438) - Los Angeles, California, USA - JAN 27, 2016
Pours dark orange/light amber with a medium khaki head that quickly dissipates leaving behind a small cap and a choppy ring. AROMA: malty, grapefruit, coriander, pine resin, herbal hops, molasses, phenols, spices, leaves, old flowers and rubber. TASTE: malty, coriander, phenols, molasses, pine resin oil, bitter, hop herbal spiced and slight peppercorn. AFTER TASTE: malty, herbal, hop spice and molasses with a creamy oily spiced finish.

22 oz. bomber filled 12/16/2015 (!)
A: Deep cloudy orange brown with a thick, slowly diminishing head of beige. and thick lace.
S: Raisiny smell is an immediate turnoff for me. Not an IPA scent
T: Bitter sharp hop taste first off. Earthy or floral? Roasty malts provide a good foil. No dark fruit taste (yay).
M: Smooth and creamy texture with medium body. Finish is slick and bitter.
O: Good looking and tasting ale though seems to be a niche product. Hate the RIS-like aroma but the taste is good and plenty bitter. Not bad but not a repeat purchase either. brownaler (707) - Alexandria, Virginia, USA - DEC 24, 2015
Strong hop aroma with a buttery body. Finish is piney and sweet. Pretty solid IPA for a company not known for IPAs. Ron (4185) - Rochester, New York, USA - SEP 8, 2015
Bottle Jay brought back from the Carolinas. Pours a dark copper color with a small off white head. Earthy, piney hop nose. Light caramel and bread notes in the flavor. Solid pine and floral notes from start to finish. Medium bodied with a lasting bitterness. jb (3414) - Rochester, New York, USA - SEP 5, 2015
Nice stuff. Pretty dry, not super over the top hoppy. Liked the red twist. Brought from Jay from South Carolina. burg326 (5607) - Florida, USA - JUN 21, 2015
Poured a murky amber orange color with aromas of light rye, caramel, malt and some pine. Flavors follow suit rye and light pine caramel as well. Meh...
