A deep amber colored American ale, featuring a rich malty body. Cascade and Willamette hops add a complex hop flavor and aroma. This ale is exceptionally balanced between malty sweetness and delicate hop bitterness.

Bottle. The pour was a cloudy medium brown with a reddish hue and had an average sized (1-2 finger) off white frothy head that lasted a little while, leaving behind some residue that lasted throughout thus producing some excellent lacing that was left sticking to the glass. The aroma was of a cookie like malt, a moderate dose of herbal hops and a mild sweet yeast with notes of caramel, toffee and had a slight nutty presence with a mild alcohol tinge. It tasted slightly bitter with a hint of toffee and a slight nuttiness at first then became nice and malty and very lightly sweet with a note of caramel and a moderate hop presence at the end. The flavor stuck around for a nice long while, allowing for the flavor of lingering hops to be totally appreciated. Mouthfeel was just a tad below medium in body and mildly dry in texture with a medium carbonation. Overall a nice sweet malty brew with a nice emphasis on hops at the finish.

2015 BJCP Category: 19A American Amber Ale

AROMA: Moderately strong hop character (citrus, floral). Some malt sweetness. Noticeable oxidation character. 7/12

APPEARANCE: Beautiful deep clear copper color. Large off-white foam retains and laces well. 3/3

FLAVOR: Moderate malty sweetness with caramel and toffee (to a lesser extent). Firm hop presentation with earthy/citrusy flavors and moderate dry bitterness. Caramel taste emerges briefly on the finish before fading away cleanly. Slight lemon sherry flavor due to oxidation. 13/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium-light body with medium carbonation. Quite smooth and easily drinkable. Feels rather light for 5.6% ABV. 3/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: Has what you want in an amber ale - just not enough of it. 6/10

Pours a dark rust orange-amber with white head. A watered down aroma of caramel and malts. A caramel, fruit, and malt aroma with some grain. A grainy and sweet caramel malt aftertaste.

This one poops a very rich almost deep red, but it’s clear and clean with a slightly toasted head. It doesn’t have an overwhelming aroma, but what it does have is a nice even blend of malts. The evenness continues in the taste with its lights bitterness and sweetness. It’s a light bodied beer with a thin but somewhat fizzy body. I’m not a big fan of amber ales, but this is one that I could certainly see myself drinking regularly.

I poured it from the bottle into a glass. It pours a nice red with an off-white head. The aroma is caramel and herbal hops. The taste is caramel, bread, and tea. It’s smooth and easy-drinking. The sweetness is subtle and nicely balanced with a slight bitterness.
