Bottled. A pitch black beer with a lazing orangey head. The aroma has notes of bourbon, roasted malt, soy sauce, and wood. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, wood, soy sauce, alcohol, and some bourbon, leading to a dry, roasted, and alcoholic finish. Thanks kp for sharing. Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of kp. Pours a clear opaque black with a light brown head. Sweetish aroma of hard roasted malt, dried fruit and sweet coffee. Quite full-bodied, very hard roasted malts and dried fruit again with a vinous touch. Quite malt bitter finish. 110709 brokensail (16486) - Dublin, California, USA - SEP 20, 2010
A: The pour is a very dark brown color with a fairly large off-white head.
S: Plenty of roasted malts and coffee on the nose. Some mild chocolate notes underneath, with a bit of a dark fruit character underneath.
T: A good bitterness is quite noticeable right away, as is the coffee and roast. There’s a mild acidity, which I normally don’t find appealing in a stout, but it isn’t horrible here. Some bittersweet chocolate helps to provide some sort of balance and there is a mild coffee grounds note on the finish.
M: The body is medium with a fairly lively level of carbonation.
D: Another beer that hides the alcohol quite well, probably due to all the different flavors going on. A pretty nice beer, actually. Tmoney99 (14612) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - OCT 15, 2010
Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Pours black color with an average frothy light brown head that was lasting with good lacing. Moderate toasted chocolate malt and nuts aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy sweet toasted flavor with a medium to heavy complex sweet finish of long duration. This is a solid complex beer.

(Brewgrass08) Medium tan head atop black body. Aroma is moderately sweet, coffee, some chocolate, roast, molasses. Taste is moderately sweet, coffee, some alcohol, cocoa, roast, light molasses. Sticky medium-full body. BeerandBlues2 (13594) - Escondido, California, USA - APR 21, 2009
Bottle. Pours opaque, maybe even darker than opaque like a black hole, sucking the light out of things around it, with a small, fizzy, dark brown, mostly diminishing with spare lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (coffee, toasted grain, molasses), average hop (perfume), average yeast (leather) with notes of wood, alcohol, vanilla, and prune. Full bodied, creamy texture, lively carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, moderate sweetness, acidity, and bitterness. bu11zeye (13029) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - JAN 2, 2009

22oz bottle acquired in trades with emacgee & SoLan (thanks!). Poured a dark black color with reddish brown edges and an averaged sized tan head. Aromas of roast, chocolate, earthy, and some coffee. Tastes of roast (but not as roasty as the aroms), chocolate, coffee, vanilla, and some dark fruits. Alcohol content overall well hidden. Sammy (12340) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 26, 2009
Pours thickish black, with some white head. Thick head, roast and coffee aroma. Full mouthfeel, I am not a great fan of super coffee beers, but it is a very good job for what it is. If you are, this one is a must for you. Coffee acidicity bothered my tummy.
