Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’ place. Thanks Max. Black. Sweet aroma with some coconut, demarera sugar and some wood, sweet and rich, velvety taste and texture with a little iodine. Smooth, full body, long finish with some sherry.

Scopey (14766) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUN 3, 2017
Bottle in Oldmeldrum. It pours jet black with a medium light tan head. The aroma is rich and sweet, loads of dark fruit, plum, prune, blackcurrant, milk chocolate and Eccles cake. The taste is slick, rich roasted malt, heavy sweet upfront, milk chocolate, coffee grounds, oily, plum jam, prune and warming alcohol with a roasty - sweet finish. Medium - full body and moderate carbonation. Perhaps a touch too sweet and lacking in a bit of depth. Not bad overall.

the aroma is a sweet tart fruity flavour. the beer it self pours into a deep dark abyss, void of any kind of light, topped with a steady white head. the taste is that of some preserved winter fruits almost too rich for my taste but balanced enough that the strong flavour doesn’t blow my head away. this beer is a rich delectable treat, definitely for the slow sipper and a most courteous friend on a cold winter night. i can see why it would be called a seafaring stout, it’ll warm your belly for certain.

ThreeCats (900) - ISRAEL - DEC 9, 2016
Black with ruby highlights and a tan head. Aroma sweet, caramely, roasty, she chocolaty. Taste rich and full, roasty, chocolaty, coffee, caramel, toffee, dried prunes. Very nice

simontomlinson (374) - Blackburn, Lancashire, ENGLAND - DEC 4, 2016
Creamy beige head stayed well on a near black still body. Dark coffee & plum aroma. Thick & creamy on the palate, minimal carbonation, slides down the throat.... Dark fruits, plum, brown sugar, sweet black coffee, malty & hints of vanilla. Such an easy drinking beer. The alcohol is completely hidden - so dangerous - but fun!!
