I was expecting something a little better from Highland. Alas, it was not to be. Pours, and looks, like a lager. The stark white, frothy head was an instant giveaway. Light gold color and superclarified. Fresh cut grass and wet hay aromas....a little skunky. Light floral notes muddled with lemon zest. No malt to speak of. The body light to medium and the palate is watery and thin. Finishes with a lingering bitterness. Pass.

Very light IPA smell...taste is like a smooth peppery and flower hops mix...good.... Light bitter on the finish, but not too much...decent IPA...some diversity but not a lot.. unfortunately it just finishes with bitterness and not much flavor...

Pours a medium golden amber color. Aromas of citrus and fruit. Flavor is a big hop presence with subtle tastes of fruit and vegetables, then more hops.

Bottle split at RBWG 15 hotel lobby share on the final night, from a bottle shop in Asheville, 21/02/15. Golden with a decent light beige cap. Nose is pale malt, caramel, straw, orange. Taste comprises toasted bread, caramel, orange pith, straw. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with light hop bitterness. A rather pedestrian IPA which delivers little.

Malty. Maybe Ive gotten blasted with hops so many times by other IPAs that its hard to enjoy the maltier ones. Aroma is nothing to emulate. Very faint hop aroma but its mostly dominated by the brand flaky malt bill. Deschutes inversion IPA (although with more hops) has a similar type of aroma--think, total cereal. Taste is brand flakes, vitamins, oats, wheat thins mixed with a hint of honey and earthy hops. Finish is not that bitter. Its more of that lingering malt feel you find in wheat beers. Overall, its pretty much par for the course in terms of English IPAs--more malt, low hops. "Ease up on the hops ole chap. We just want to keep it from spoiling not use up the lot."

Draft from Growlers to Go in Richmond The IPA poured a clear amber with smallish head that dissipated with lacing. A pleasant IPA with mild hints of citrus and caramel malts on the nose and some resin in the taste. The IPA has a medium body with average carbonation. The ale had a refreshingly crisp finish that doesnt overwhelm the taste buds.

BOD 5/22/14. Pours a slightly cloudy medium amber. Exceptional head volume and retention, World Class lacing. Nice nose of subtle herbal hops, with a touch of spice, over a biscuit and caramel background. Light medium body that has a fairly smooth texture. Above normal carbonation with a slight effervescence in the middle and a nice burst in the finish. The flavor profile falls just short of outstanding. It is intense, but falls short in balance and complexity. It has a nice hop flavor focus (herbal, citric and rind) over a mild bitterness in the middle. Caramel and biscuit sweetness appear in the finish, but are overwhelmed by rind and pine hop flavor. This hop flavor lingers.
