Heavy on the pallet, dark and delicious. Not super bitter at all. Great mouthfeel, not as creamy as I like ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Harris Teeter, Hampstead, North Carolina. Extremely dark red with a small head. Its dark malts have a small grittiness to them, but no real roasted malts found here. There is a smoothness within its texture.

Draft at Growler USA. Dark brown full bodied beer. Dry taste of roasted malt, finishes mild. Unexciting.

The aroma is a little barnyard smell. Pours dark brown with beige head, mostly diminishing and excellent lacing. The taste is umami, not much to it. The body is medium/light, the texture thin, the carbonation lively and the finish abrupt. Doesn’t make it for me but this beer did sit in the fridge for awhile,

on tap at Grumpy Monks in Myrtle Beach - super dark in color. Not much aroma. A nice porter.

Poured from the tap into a pint glass at the Carolina Ale House in Columbia, SC. The appearance is a dark brown color with a small tan head. The aroma is mostly coffee and malt. The taste is very similar to the nose with some slight raisin flavor added.

jflopsu (1626) - New Jersey, USA - JAN 23, 2017
Pours dark brown with tan head. Has a roasted malt, coffee, and grain aroma. A taste of roasted malts, grains, coffee, and some chocolate. A dry grain and roasted malt aftertaste.

From mix 6 pack bought at Village Market (Harris Teeter’s yuppie division), Johns Island, South Carolina, tasted on July 22, 2016. Very dark brown/coffee color, nice roasted malt aroma with some chocolate, slick texture, toasted malt/chocolate/oat flavor significantly compromised by chemical taste and astringency.

12 ounce bottle poured into a brandy snifter. The aroma has strong molasses and licorice notes. Leathery and herbal. This beer actually comes across a lot like a black ipa. Medium body and high carbonation.

Bottle shared at a tasting at The Dancing Camel. Very dark brown. Vanilla, chocolate milk, soft roastiness aroma. Roasty, bitter, a little ash taste. Full body, roasty bitterness, ash finish. Nice!
