A: The pour is a dark brown with some dark red/ruby highlights and a thin off-white head.
S: Smells really charred and ashy. A slight acidity, but there is a nice creamy chocolate/cocoa aroma underneath it. Nice roasted malt and some coffee or maybe coffee grounds.
T: Quite bitter with a lot of acidity and plenty of ash and acrid coffee notes. Lots of roasted malt flavor, maybe a little bit of dark fruit notes. I don’t really get much, if any chocolate or oatmeal out of this.
M: The body is on the thin side with a medium carbonation.
D: The lack of oatmeal character in this beer was quite disappointing. It really lacked the usual smooth and full mouthfeel that oatmeal provides. bhensonb (15235) - Woodland, California, USA - DEC 22, 2009
Pours a dark amber brown with not much head. Aroma is "celery". Not quite medium body with mild carbonation. Flavor is "celery" with some mild toasted malt. It’s not offensive, but it’s not all that strong anything. Pleasant. Does leave some burnt bitter aspects in the mouth. If there’s chocolate, it’s low key. Bottle at Papsø’s - Thanks. Clear red/brown - white head. Berries. ryebread, nutty, ok malty, light hoppy, coffee, burned notes, high malty, light bitterness. A bit plain.

Bottle poured a clear dark brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of bitter chocolate, earthiness, light charcoal and light carmel. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of earthiness, dark chocolate, light roastiness and a hint of vanilla with a smooth dry malty finish.
