COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Status uncertain.
At 9% ABV it sits nicely beside our Orkney Porter, also 9%, and is the first time we’ve brewed a barley wine. A lovely deep amber in colour, we loaded it full of American hops - and then we put some more in! All in the interest of balance, it also contains a small mountain of Maris Otter pale malt.

Bottle from GlasgowTAD. Many thanks! Hazy orange colour, nice creamy foam. Nose of orange marmalade, lots of orange marmalade. Very citrussy, light tart, sweet. Hoppy bitter finish. Interesting beer.

Slightly hazy gold, decent white head. Smells of honey and tropical fruit. This is very, very smooth. Honey, tangy fruit, malt. You get a bit of the strength as well. Bitter, hoppy aftertaste. Almost like an IPA in the finish which will come from the type of hops I assume. Smooth, rich, complex. This is bloody lovely.

BBD:Jan 2018.
In short: boozy ale.
Did I enjoy it: less than expected.
Pours little hazy copper with little vanishing off white head. poor lacing. Dried fruits nose, raisins, apples acetaldehyde and some alcoholic notes. Medium body, soft carbonation, oily texture. Taste is malt forward, ripe fruit, raisins, again high alcohols-fusels, little harsh due to this, quite sweet and palate warming. A bit straightforward.

Hazy orangish. Sweetish malty aroma with starchy hints perhaps. Smooth sweet palate. Oxidised sweet malty taste. Tastes malty and boozy. A touch rough.
