Cask conditioned at The Cask & Barrel, Edinburgh. Gold with white head. Thin light beer, almost lager like in character with a light lemon lime hop note and little body. Some closing bitterness. AshtonMcCobb (6774) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - MAR 30, 2011
UPDATED: AUG 28, 2011 Re-rate, I’m much more aware of how well integrated the yeast and the hops are on the long refreshing finish this times. There seems to be a particular yeast taste to Highland Brewing beers, in fact. This is an awesome drink which understates itself but has incredible balance.

50cl bottle. Pours golden with light carbonation & a nice lacy head. The nose has sweet malt and gentle nettles. The taste is less malty but more nettles. The palate is light to medium bodied with proportional texture and a lovely refreshing finish. Overall, this is a beautifully balanced and sessionable beer. Less is more! On cask (handpump) at Great British Beer Festival, day 3 on 6 August 2009. Gold / amber. Slightly sweet fruit but, oddly, a quite dry finish. Strong hoppy bitterness arrives late. A very decent session bitter.

Cask at the Cask and barrel, Edinburgh.
A fairly standard bitter, but there is a bit barnyard or stable in there - the beer is not in top form. Fine maltiness, nice bitteer tail - but not well kept. Phatman (176) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 17, 2010
Cask & Barrel, Southside, Edinburgh
Light fruity aroma with a clear pale straw appearance. Lightly bittered flavours with citrus fruits, short lived palate however. Might be one for the summer... Rune (13186) - Tromsø, NORWAY - DEC 17, 2010
Half, hand pulled cask at Cask & Barrel Southside. Clear golden body. Low, lacing-head. Plain fruity hops to the nose. Oil-like fruity hops in flavour. Dry ending. Foamy and watered mouth feel (Edinburgh, 30.11.2010). Nekronos (4174) - Xalapa, MEXICO - DEC 2, 2010
Strange to find a name like this for this brewery. Nice head and features very refreshing although a little bitter for my taste.

Quite good but I expected more from this brewery, it is a shame Orkney brewery was bought by another.
