COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular. Also available bottled.

Appearance: pale and golden in colour.
Nose: rich fruity malt hints of yeast, with earthy, woody, hop with honey and alcohol notes.
Palate: generously malty with balanced spicy hop in the middle leading, to a lingering hop finish, with honeyed fruity malt and a hint of warming alcohol.
Summary: a stunning stronger ale in the true british fashion, with balanced flavours from maris otter malt and English hops added early and late in the copper. One to take great care with as it is so drinkable.

rodsquad (288) - Aberdeen, SCOTLAND - APR 24, 2017
Bottle from Oddbins Rosemount. Pours hazy orangey brown with barely any head. Spicy apple nose followed with sweet cracking toffee and a light lime cordial. Flavours are toffee apple malt sweetness up front with a spicy earthy bitterness as back up. It has a pleasant light body with moderate carbonation. A thick, almost chewy malt sweetness tempered with a spicy warm fruit bitterness. This would make a cracking Winters ale.

Pure white rocky head stayed well on a translucent lightly carbonated copper coloured body. Fruity, caramel aroma. Very prickly on the tongue, reasonably thick & cloying. Sweet to the fore with honey, caramel & orange followed by a bitter back of citrus & pith.

minutemat (5784) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - OCT 28, 2016
500ml bottle from Scottish Real Ale Shop. Pours clear gold, large persistent foamy white head. Aroma is prominent caramel, taste continues with what appears to be a standard English strong ale / barley wine character. Smooth, light caramel malts, soft marmalade, light spice. Not sure on the IPA connection.

Draft at Bow Bar in Edinburgh. Golden orange. Fruity, apricot, bubblegum. More medicinal than tasty.

Armmat dość ograniczony i wyblakły, trochę owocowy, trochę lagerowy. Barwa złota, pomarańczowa, klarowna. Smak gość ciekawy czuć tutaj chmiele, IPA, owoce, goryczka średnia i z tyłu wyłania się smak barleywine, nieco kwaskowe miejscami.

500ml bottle as "Orkney Blast IPA Barleywine Hybrid" (not sure if this is a different recipe where it was previously labelled as an English Strong Ale? but the artwork and name are the same).
Crystal clear golden amber colour with a one-two finger frothy head and lots of lacing. Aroma of fruity, spicy malts, sweet caramel, citrus hops, orange, pine. Taste of sweet caramel malt, spices, fruit, orange, citrus hops, orange. Well balanced with nice bitterness at the end, smooth mouthfeel, alcohol well hidden. Interesting beer.

Aroma: honey, alcohol, caramel and bread malts, light fruity. Appearance: clear, dark gold, small, white head. Taste: light to medium sweet. Palate: toffee, caramel, some straw, sticky texture, medium bodied. Overall: very nice and malty ESA, nice surprise. Pint at the Gardners Arms, Lewes.

Scotbrew (61) - - JUL 20, 2015
Traditional English pale ale type. Decent hop aromas, mainly grapefruit which jumps out. Some sweetness initially, definite orange marmalade and bready flavours. Surprisingly, alcohol is quite noticeable in flavour and aftertaste but it’s more warming than harsh. Not bad.

Cask at Holy Inadequate, Etruria. Pours golden amber, boozy, some hops, cloying. Hard work.
