COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular. Also available bottled at 4.4%.

Appearance: golden & sparkling in the glass.
Nose: hints of fruit esters and malt, with light hop notes. Also, if fresh, will have a nutty bread dough yeasty note, that disappears when well vented.
Palate: soft nutty maltiness with accessible hoppiness. The middle is balanced, leading to a long malt hop finish, which the hops eventually win. Their fresh green notes coming through with hints of fruit esters. It becomes drier and “cleaner” drinking with longer venting.
Summary: a satisfying world class pale ale, made with maris otter pale ale malt & a blend of four hops from America, Germany, New Zealand & Slovakia. Each one selected for their spiciness and aroma and all giving that certain something to back up the wholesome maltiness provided by the maris otter.

500 ml bottle bought at CitySuper in Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui.

Clear straw golden honey colour; One and a quarter finger head with crumpety white foam which last for 2 minutes; Excellent sticky lacing with fizzy carbonation; Very fragrant and sweet aroma of Ale malt which can be smelt a foot away, with strong nuts, honey, light caramel, yellow fruits, floral, sugar, strong earth, spice, light bread, thin lemon and light grass; Mid to light sweet taste of fair Ale malt, with strong grains, floral, light molasses, earth, spices, dry bread, lemon, fair to light bitter hops and light grass; Mid to light body. Pretty slick palate; Mouth feel is fair Ale maltymess in a solid, grainy background. Not much fruitiness, mostly bitter floral and fair sweetness. Earthy, spicy bready with lemon to round. Easy and nice!... Hoppiness is floral, strong earth, spice, thin lemon and light grass in nose, same in taste but with stronger citrus and grass; Bitterness is mid to light for an abrupt, fairly astringent floral malty finish; Quite dry after taste. Earthy spicy and fairly bitter to mouth.

Comments: This one impresses with strong nutty malt and honey earthy aroma and good looks. All the earthy hoppy tastes are there but not as great as it smells. Very competent and easy to down. Basic bitter with a little extra and did the job!

Light bitter, citrus aroma. Not a huge amount of taste. Bit of fruity hop. Watery though. Meh.

Half-pint, cask, hand pulled at The Shore - Kirkwall. A deep golden body with a tiny white head blanketing the upper part of the glass. Mild aroma of herbal hops, peach and pale malts. Mixed taste of peach, herbs and mid-sweet grainy malts. Rounded bittersweet end. Clean on the swallow. Pretty decent and refreshing after the flight to the Orkney Islands (13.04.2016).

Pretty middle of the road. Pale ale over-sells it. More generic light golden ale. Sell is a little unpleasant. Taste is not offensive but entirely forgettable.
