Cask; Regular. Also available bottled at 4.4%.

Appearance: golden & sparkling in the glass.
Nose: hints of fruit esters and malt, with light hop notes. Also, if fresh, will have a nutty bread dough yeasty note, that disappears when well vented.
Palate: soft nutty maltiness with accessible hoppiness. The middle is balanced, leading to a long malt hop finish, which the hops eventually win. Their fresh green notes coming through with hints of fruit esters. It becomes drier and “cleaner” drinking with longer venting.
Summary: a satisfying world class pale ale, made with maris otter pale ale malt & a blend of four hops from America, Germany, New Zealand & Slovakia. Each one selected for their spiciness and aroma and all giving that certain something to back up the wholesome maltiness provided by the maris otter.

Pretty middle of the road. Pale ale over-sells it. More generic light golden ale. Sell is a little unpleasant. Taste is not offensive but entirely forgettable.

I like this beer. Something very slightly different to make it stand out and enjoyable.

Cask at the Liberty Bounds, JDW - London. Pours clear gold with a slight, creamy white head. The nose holds sugary malts, pale grains, ripe lemon. Light-medium sweet flavor with some herbal tea, lemon peel, damp grains. Light bodied with fine carbonation; decent condition. Finishes sweet with slight piney bitterness, some bitter citrus rind, too, more lemony notes, pale grains. A very basic golden bitter.

Cask at JDW CW, London. It pours a clean golden color with medium white head that sticks around. Aroma is fresh grassy hoppy with citrus peel and grapefruit. Taste is medium bitter and tangy with lemon zest, melon, grapefruit, grass, straw. Finishes dry and bitter, and lightly sweet tangy. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall, lovely

BlackHaddock (7960) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAR 6, 2015
6th March 2015, 500ml bottle: BBE Aug 2015. Poured into a UK pint sleeve at home during a Scottish beer tasting session with myself. Clear golden body, full white blanket of foam on top. Malty lead to the fruity aroma, the taste follows the same lines. Semi-sweet maltiness with a mixed fruit backbone, very little bitterness throughout. Hoped for more to be honest, nothing wrong with my bottle, it just seemed ’middle of the road’ in all aspects with the flavours not pronounced enough in any direction.
