Draught at the WBF in Raleigh. Copper, with white head, good lacing. Sweet aroma, with caramel. Flavor is grainy, poorly balanced. Dissapointing finish. Unusual from Highland, most of their beers are excellent. SSSteve (4006) - - MAY 23, 2008
a cloudy brown/caramel colored beer with no head. aroma of sour apples, butter, toffee, peanut brittle. flavor is similar. not a bad bock but its a little thin and the appearance losses some points. gsmitty80 (2130) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 2, 2008
Got this on draft at Mellow Mushroom and expected it to be a easy drinking lager. It turned out to be a heavy, almost brown ale with dark malt charachterstics and a hefty bite, call it a BOCK so i dont have to chew a beer down that i expect to be crisp and clean. Nothing "smooth" about this. gottalottaibu (243) - charlotte, North Carolina, USA - MAY 11, 2008
draft. golden amber with a medium frothy head. sweet malty aroma. falvor was malty, nutty and a hint of bitter. nicely carbonated . NachlamSie (3568) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAY 22, 2008
Bottle. Pours a crystalline dark copper with a small head. The aroma is a little gummy with hints of butter, caramel, some wooden hops, maybe apples. Ample bock character is noted in the flavor, not my favorite thing. I found the finish to be a bit sticky. HInts of fig, apple, butter, light earth are present. Not really interesting. It’s a shame they sacrificed Tasgall for this.
