Pint pour. Very thin to nonexistent lacing on glass. Coloring is dark muddy brown. No noticeable coffee nose as I was expecting. Good taste to the middle and back of the tongue; coffee is noticeable. Nice lightly bitter finish at the front of the tongue...like coffee. I like this beer and wanted to rate it higher. Just could not find the justification to do so. snoworsummer (5694) - baltimore, Maryland, USA - DEC 27, 2014
Draft at the Rookery. Pours dark brown with a creamy beige head. Smells like coffee, cocoa, chocolate, roasted malt, and light wood. Tastes like dry roasted malt, chocolate, espresso, earth, and light wood. Medium body and carbonation. sonnycheeba (5988) - Federal Hill, Baltimore, Maryland, USA - DEC 26, 2014
Tap. Pours dark brown with creamy beige head. Aroma is coffee, cocoa, chocolate, roasted malts, and light woodiness. Flavor is dry, roast character with chocolate, espresso, earthy hops, and light woodiness. Medium body and carbonation. Murrow (101) - Kirkwood, Missouri, USA - DEC 23, 2014
Bottle, at home. Pours black with light brown head. Strong espresso and chocolate aroma with some sour notes. Opens sharp and light, slightly fruity. Coffee quickly develops into middle. Sour finish, slightly dry. Light carbonation. Medium mouthfeel. Overall, not a very good representation of this style. Was expecting something more robust. The sourness was unpleasant in this case, as well. bnwokedi89 (106) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - DEC 19, 2014
Deep coffee aroma can't be missed! Dark complexion almost coca cola like in color. Low carbonation with limited fizz. Delicious coffee flavor that gets better as the beer warms up! Great brew worth trying!

From site: This robust porter has a full body with some hints of chocolate from the chocolate malt and midnight wheat. The mild noble hop aroma showcases the roasty flavors and subtle fruit and spice notes of the artisan-roasted Fair Trade/Organic coffee of Black Mountain, NC’s Dynamite Roasting Co

Aroma: Mellow, yet pervasive coffee profile in the nose, a little fudge, slight earth. Appearance: Dark garnet black pour with a foamy mocha head that settles into a skin. Flavor: Coffee up front, and mostly prevalent throughout; some hints of chocolate and an earthy aftertaste. Coffee shows off a little blueberry and cream as it warms. Palate: Medium body, sticky texture, soft carbonation, astringent finish. Overall: Standout coffee flavor here, but I would personally like a bit more porter character. Bottle poured a clear dark reddish brown with a lingering ring of tan foam. Aromas of coffee, bakers cocoa, roasted malt and light earthiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of coffee, roasted malt, earthiness and light cocoa with a smooth dry lingering coffee finish. UrbanCaveman (193) - Ohio, USA - NOV 26, 2014
12 oz bottle, poured into a snifter at room temperature.
A: Pours a seemingly black hole singularity black, but upon shining a light through the beer, tiny highlights of pure red make it through. Forms a finger-thick head of very pale tan, which dissipates quickly into a ring.
S: That’s definitely a coffee porter smell. What seems to be a medium-roast coffee odor mingles with some earthy peat and faint chocolatey notes.
T: Medium roast coffee does indeed meet earthy peat in this action-packed thriller starring mostly medium roast coffee and earthy peat. While the flavors aren’t bad, the flavor profile is rather simple.
M: Creamy and full, avoiding the watery finish that plagues many a porter.
O: Not a bad porter. Not particularly complex, but solid for what is there. hman43 (1586) - Pinehurst, North Carolina, USA - NOV 25, 2014
On draft at Cherokee. It pours dark amber with a bit of lacing. It seemed to have a bit more carbonation to it. It has chocolate in the aroma with other roasted bits.
