Bottle pours black with a tan head. Big coffee scent with choclate and roasted malt. Taste is the same. Thin for a porter. Pawola22 (3262) - Woodridge, Illinois, USA - FEB 10, 2012
12oz bottle from JCB, thanks Jason! Pours a black body with a finger-width, creamy, dark brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is slightly stale, cheaper smelling coffee with some sourness. A good amount of milky dark chocolate malts with a moderate sweetness as well as a light roast, vanilla, and touch of bitterness. There is a bit of a spice to this that comes out more as it warms. Flavor is better. The coffee is big and does taste a bit cheap, but its not as stale as the aroma. A light herbal hopping in the middle blends nicely with the coffee. Solid milky dark chocolate malt backing offering a medium-light sweetness with some vanilla as well. Coffee picks up towards the end with a bit of a creme as this finishes with a light-medium, roasty, herbal, coffee bitterness that dries with just enough of a chocolate sweetness before leaving a lengthy aftertaste with a touch of ash coming out. Medium, smooth body with a moderate carbonation. Overall, not a bad coffee porter. The coffee isn’t my favorite variety, but its well balanced with a nice chocolate malt sweetness and light hopping. Finishes well and remains easy drinking throughout. italianjohn (3228) - Penndel, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 25, 2014
Pitch black pour little bit of an orange hue with a thin off white head .... Aroma of bitter dark chocolate, mostly bitter dark roasted coffee, caramel malts ... Taste of dark bitter chocolate, roasted coffee, caramel malts and bitter hops .... Has a nice bitter hoppy bite on the backend very well represented on the roasted side that’s for sure .... Finish is dry and bitter ... Body is thin but this is definitely a nice coffee porter Palidor19 (3193) - Brandon, Florida, USA - DEC 22, 2012
Strong coffee flavor with a touch of oats. Has a dark toasted malt bitterness . Hops are there but not dominate. This a fantastic beer
