COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This robust porter has a full body with some hints of chocolate from the chocolate malt and midnight wheat. The mild noble hop aroma showcases the roasty flavors and subtle fruit and spice notes of the artisan-roasted Fair Trade/Organic coffee of Black Mountain, NC’s Dynamite Roasting Co.

12 oz. bottle shared by DrSilverworm- thanks again, Chris! Pours a cloudy brown color with almost no head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, leaves, and earth. Flavor of tobacco, earth, coffee, spice, chocolate, and toast. Light-bodied, with moderate to medium carbonation and a roasty mouthfeel. Nice coffee porter.

355mL at my brother’s local pool bar in Gainesville, FL. Overall, a salty, bitter, Irish dry stout in body. Weaker beige head. Soapy, thinner body. Nose has salt, vanilla, soy, umami. Palate is lemon tea, toothpaste, mint.

UPDATED: JAN 24, 2014 12oz bottle, thanks to alexsdad06 for sharing. Dark brown color, with a red hue, thin khaki head. Minimal lace. Good, potent coffee nose. Soft carbonation, dry texture. Light bitter taste. Nice coffee flavor and aftertaste. Dry finish.... 3.2

Re-rate, 1/25/14: Gotta say, I like this more now. Chewier, more pleasantly bitter. What can you do. 3.6. That’s what we’re ending on. Fuck you and everyone else who cares otherwise. That’s a great score. Great long coffee roasty aftertaste.

Pour out of 12 oz bottle, thanks for the bottle Mike! Dark/opaque black pour with nice fluffy and lasting tan head, a fair amount of carbonation streaming off the bottom of the glass, aroma brought nice roasted coffee bean, espresso and cold press type coffee, some slight milk and dark chocolates, hints of a red berry, nice oaty type notes as well as a slight spicy note. Taste is pretty nice, some sweet red fruits and chocolate up front lead into bitter espresso, coffee bean, touch of chocolate and roast notes again come in with a touch of earth, finishing fairly dry, slightly bitter but not as much as the coffee would let on. Nicely done!

Draft. Pours near black with a beige head. Coffee aroma, with roasted malts and light sweetness. The flavor has sweet coffee, light roasted malts, and some floral hoppy bitterness. Pretty good.

Bottle to snifter (thanks jmborggren). Looks solid; a semi-opaque cola with off-white lacing. Smells and tastes of bitter coffee and dark malt. Average on the palate. Solid, but not spectacular.

2/29/12. 12oz bottle thanks to decaturstevo! Dark brown pour with a nice, thick brown head that cuts in half but sticks in spotty rings. Nice aroma with sweet and dark chocolates, slightly tart and acidic, but nice coffee, and smooth maltiness. Nice smooth chocolate and coffee combo in the flavor with lingering coffee and a hint of tartness and grain. Nice.

Bottle from Total Wines, Sterling, VA. Dark brown with a decent, beige, head. Rich coffee bean aroma and taste, avoiding any jarring bitterness. Also had some plain chocolate and a trace of leafy hop, before a dryish finish.

22 ounce bottle on the bus, backseat .. . pours dark brown .. light foam .. . some cheap coffee and brown bread crust .. light mouth, finish- like most highland beers .. . . then they would have been extremely uncomfortable and later on had the gnarly shit of their life.

12oz bottle pours a watery black with some thin, creamy off white head. Nose is very nutty, coffee grounds, mocha, bread crust, some raisin, cola. Flavor has lots of soured coffee, sweet malt, cracker, toast, a little toasted almond. Watery finish. Very drinkable.
