Nice deep dark brown coloured body with a thin, one centimetre tall creamy tan head. Aroma of coffee, roasted nuts, earth, caramel and a bit of cardboard. Medium-bodied; Deep roasty flavour with a ton of caramel, a lot of vanilla, some oak, a hint of bourbon and a nice rich coffee flavour. Aftertaste shows a good complexity with cream, nuts, medicinal flavours and a hint of pit fruits. Overall, a nice and full flavoured beer with some good and unexpected flavours. Not an out-of-this-world beer, but good for sure. Bottle. Black pour with a short tan head. Strong coffee notes in the aroma. Black, oily coffee beans, roasted malt, and hints of dark chocolate form the bulk of the aroma. Taste is black, oily coffee beans, chocolate covered coffee beans, roasted malt and burnt caramel. Body is medium with a smooth, creamy carbonation. Ends with more strong coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malt, faint caramel and burnt oatmeal.

This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a nice dark brown color ranging close to black. There was a one finger white to off white foamy head that dissipated within less than a gentle half minute. There was some light clingy lacing.
The smell had a nice blend of roasty coffee beans to a light cocoa.
The taste was mainly sweet but still had a light robust coffee flavoring underneath.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was somewhat sharp but still maintaining it’s Porter like quality of a decent smoothness.

Strong aroma is mainly quality roast coffee and sweet chocolate, like a mocha from a good coffeehouse. It pours a nearly-black opaque sable with a thick, fine-bubbled, almost Guinness-like tan head that stays around for a bit. Superb flavor is more like coffee than porter - quality coffee, like something from Starbucks or Caribou Coffee, not cheap instant. It also has a subtle malty undertone and a hint of licorice. Sweetness and bitterness balance each other nicely. Texture has plenty of fizz and above-average body.
