Pours dark black with chestnut brown edges and one finger of tan head. Nose is very nice, molasses and sweet java notes. Lots of chocolate and a light roast. Coffee flavor is a tad weak. Spent grounds and bitter bakers chocolate. Noticeable acidity from the coffee and dark grain. Medium body with a slightly thin feel and almost absent carbonation. 6 Jan 2015, bottle. Black. Nose is really big, bitter, dark espresso. Med body and moderately fizzy. Tastes like dark chocolate with hints of chili pepper. Faintly acidic. Nice enough. jsquire (4489) - St. Marys, Ohio, USA - FEB 26, 2013
Dark beer with almost no head. Nose of green coffee beans and a little play doh. Sweet caramel flavor with some wet toast, roast grains and burnt sweetened coffee. Some celery and green stuff in the finish. The coffee flavor is pretty subtle. rondphoto (4445) - Lakeside Park, Kentucky, USA - FEB 9, 2014
@ Party Town / Florence KY --- Opaque brown-black with a light head cover, thin streaks of lace. Aroma is healthy earth, malt, and coffee. Taste matches the aroma: roasted malt, dark, moist earth, coffee, and dark toast are all present on a base of mild bittering. All moves smoothly to a lingering finish in which no additiopnal bittering is necessary. Very palatable, I’m having it tonight in front of TV and a fire with Triscuits and Havarti cheese. It’s a good night. nick76 (4399) - Tampa, Florida, USA - FEB 6, 2012
The aroma has coffee as advertised! There is also burnt malt and a touch of brown sugar. The appearance is dark brown with a large, tan head. The taste definitely has coffee but it seems a bit rancid. The palate is thin. Overall this one was a disappointment for me, it had great potential in the aroma but something about the taste was not enjoyable.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a small-to-moderate head. Good coffee notes in the nose, though the smell isn’t too strong. Great roasting and coffee flavors to this, which manage to be smooth on the palate despite the harsher flavors. Very nice brew. unclemattie (4358) - Georgia, USA - DEC 29, 2011
Tap @ TacoMac, OMP. Black pour, brown head. Creamy texture. Nice lace. Smells of green coffee beans, roast. Taste of coffee and burnt chocolate. jandd1983 (4318) - Wentzville, Missouri, USA - JUN 7, 2014
Sampled at the brewery. It poured a clear brown color with a tan head. The aroma was of moderately roasted coffee and spices. The taste was medium to heavy roasted dark coffee with some bittersweetness and a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. edgallow (4211) - nashville, Tennessee, USA - MAR 9, 2012
22 oz bomber pours black with a thin tan head. Aroma of coffee and malts. Taste is the malts, chocolate and a hint of coffee. Nice beer

Bottle courtesy of durhambeer!
Pours basically black with a small but well retained head that leaves small bits of lacing on the glass.
The beer has a nice roasty and fruity smell. The coffee is vibrant and pungent and not unlike walking into my dearest Zanzibar’s Coffee house here in town while the roaster is doing her thing.
The flavor is roasty and bitter with a little bit of creamy sweetness. The beer isn’t overly sweet but does have a little bit of ashy-ness.
The palate is a little bit think but the low carbonation serves the flavor perfectly.
