Great porter. Good beer brewery. I would love to try this one on tap. Worth tasting. TheBeerCollector (633) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - JAN 14, 2012
Bottle. Pours jet black with an off white head. Aroma is coffee and roasted malt. Silky smooth mouthfeel with a well balanced dark malt flavor from start to finish. Just the right amount of carbonation and alcohol.to make this a superb porter. Well done. Would pair well with a frozen desert or ice cream. Originally reviewed: 12/30/11. One of my more anticipated new NC beers to try, so I was excited to see this one on tap at City Bev in town. A huge rocky tan head capped this mother off. The nose was strong with roasted coffee and chocolate powder. I really am digging the freshly ground aroma. Nice strong coffee presence. The body is moderate-to-full, yet still drinkable. The alcohol level must be low, because this one is disappearing quickly. Big coffee notes, chocolate, slight nutty presence melded within. Dang. This one delivered. My new favorite Highland offering. Now to seek out some bottles...

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a small-to-moderate head. Good coffee notes in the nose, though the smell isn’t too strong. Great roasting and coffee flavors to this, which manage to be smooth on the palate despite the harsher flavors. Very nice brew. dimenhetfield (2486) - , Florida, USA - OCT 19, 2012
12oz bottle poured into snifter. Wow! Amazing coffee aroma. Can’t remember the last beer I had that was overwhelmed with this much coffee aroma. Flavor is bitter with hints of dark chocolate and coffee bean. A real treat and surprise. GG (2332) - NorCal, California, USA - NOV 5, 2014

First, a big thanks to Louis for sending me this beauty. A stunning beer from beginning to end. I’ve had a few of their beers and their Mocha Stout had been my favorite, but this is now king of the hill. It pours out a dark brown/black body with a thick, creamy medium/dark tan head. Long lasting throughout the glass. It doesn’t get much better than that. Aroma is chock full of coffee/chicory goodness. You could say that’s it’s one dimensional but it’s a great dimension...lol. The flavor opens up a little more and has a little more depth than the flavor, and coming to the porter party is coffee’s good friend chocolate. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I also got some chocolate chip cookie in this beer...crazy. Mouthfeel is spot on, silky smooth..full and round and it really helps support the flavors crashing around on the palate. I couldn’t have been more happier with this product and those in the south should celebrate this beer whenever possible. It reminds me in many ways of Meantime’s coffee porter or Midnight Sun’s coffee porter, but this is better than those two I think. sirzekel (65) - Georgia, USA - DEC 18, 2015
My favorite Highland beer. Had in Asheville. Good coffee, not overpowering.

Pours a dark dark with a creamy tan head and aroma of coffee. Taste is great, heavy coffee with roasted malt and chocolate flavors and a slight bitter finish. Drinkable, nice brew, can taste the coffee throughout.
