Dark opaque brownish black pour. Small mocha head. Aroma is all coffee with heavy chicory. The porter is mostly coffee, especially espresso with roasted bark. Finish is smooth, slightly bitter and lasting. Quite an easy drinking porter, may have it for breakfast tomorrow. Serving: 12 oz. bottle from Chips Wine & Beer. It pours a black color with a small but lasting tan head. The nose has a ton of fresh ground coffee. The flavor is solid but not overbearing with a roasted bitterness and lots of fresh, black coffee flavor. Once the best uses of coffee in a beer that I’ve had. Medium to full bodied but the roastiness ends up dry on the back end making it very drinkable. Great brew. GandGKevin (934) - Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA - NOV 8, 2012
Strong espresso aromas. Nice roasty coffee flavors. Very very good coffee porter from Highland. Braudog (6710) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - NOV 18, 2012
Bottle. Dark, dark brown, with little to no head. The aroma is awesome ... full of all kinds of roasty chocolate and coffee. This drinks like it should, too, for a coffee porter ... big, chewy notes of rich, nutty java. Delicious! (#4824, 11/18/2012)

A great balance on the coffee flavor. It sits nicely on the palate without dominating the flavor. musinj6 (506) - Dedham, Massachusetts, USA - DEC 23, 2012
Pours an opaque black with one finger tan head with mild to moderate lacing. Roasted malt and rich coffee. Mildly bitter but overall very smooth with medium body and moderate carbonation. Medium smooth coffee finish. Hint of herbal hops. Excellent. Kinz (3786) - Glen Allen, Virginia, USA - JAN 8, 2013
UPDATED: JAN 30, 2016 Beer #14 Asheville trip. Had this on tap at Jack of the Wood. Pity that we didn’t have time to go by Highland itself, but time is always limited, and at least I got to try a really nice one. Pours black, nice head. Aroma of espresso and chocolate. Flavor matches. A bit of vague fruity character in the background. Came across bigger than it really was, with a touch of warming alcohol on the finish. Very nicely done, my favorite brew sampled at Jack of the Wood. RERATE: Basically 3 years later on another trip to Asheville, this time at the hotel bar. And it was exactly how I remembered it, without realizing I had already tried it. No changes here. Erikh04 (153) - - DEC 10, 2013
Very good porter. Smokey and coffee aroma. Taste is the same. Would get again.

Delicious coffee porter with deep, roasty veins of chocolate and java. Mild herbal bitterness on the finish. Damn tasty.
