COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named after my horse (he's about the same color), Doolie's is a dark ale with a ruby red overtones which show up if you hold it to the light (the beer, not the horse). Slightly roasted flavor profile and the darker color comes from the use of three different specialty malts that are roasted in varying degrees, to stringent specifications.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear amber with a medium sized white head. Malt on the nose, toast, a touch of fruit. Medium bodied, soft malt and a bit of fruit. Toast, slow and toasty, malt into the finish, light fruit sweetness. Gentle and easy.

On tap at the brewpub in Boise. Pours a dark amber with a very small white head around the rim of the glass. A rich roasted malt nose with light spicy hops. The flavor is nice; earthy, lightly roasted malts, a sweet spicy hop bite. A lot darker than your average Amber Ale. More like a brown ale. Nice.

Hoppy malt character, very rounded. Auburn mahogany color with ruby red qualities. Balanced flavors with complex hop notes and malt profile. Dry, bitter and slightly astringent finish. Good amber with a brewpub feel to it, truly one of the better beers from Highlands.

IndianaRed (5022) - Boise, Idaho, USA - JUL 22, 2006
On Tap at the brewpub. Very dark amber. More like a bock. Very nice full sandy colored head. PLenty of long lasting lacing. Aroma is dark, woody, with roasted malts and only slight bitterness. Flavor was similar, again, quite dark for the stlye. A robust, heavy amber that has a nice hop/malt profile. Tasty.

Loved the color in this brew - dark amber with reddish tones and a small tan head. Very strong maltiness with subtle roasty tones and some caramels. Not much hop presence, but overall a solid amber ale.

Eh, an average amber ale, with a bitter bite and not in a good way. I liked thie initial flavor this one had to offer, but the aftertaste was really bad. Typical in every was you could rate this one in its other qualities, what more can I say. Very average.
