COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our friend Pat Mcilhenney, owner and brewer at Alpine Beer Co., and his wife Val visited us in August of 2015 while on an East Coast vacation, so why not brew a beautiful, hoppy collaboration? This IPA is truly a collaboration of styles, techniques and philosophies—resulting in a harmonious, cross-country, hop-forward beer that could only be the product of true mutual admiration.

*10/14/2015 750ml growler poured into a Hill Farmstead oversized wine glass. A~ glowing orange with a huge fluffy bubbling head and a little lacing. S~ sweet caramel malt up front, slight pepper and a good amount of tropical fruits. passion fruit, guava, and orange. T~ follows the nose a lot of bitter orange peel here and dank grass on the back end. M~ super smooth, nice carb and crushable! O~ i definitely expected a little more with the Alpine brewer collaborating on this one but its pretty much just another VT/east coast IPA. worth a shot but nothing to go crazy over. i’ve sadly been a little disappointed with HF’s hops as of lately...

Growler from the brewery. Pours lightly hazy orange-gold with a frothy off-white head. Lots of fruity, moderately dank hops in the nose, some ripe peach, tangerine, apricot, pale bread. Medium sweet flavor with more bready, lightly biscuity malts, some further juicy citrus, some gooey pine, bitter grass, orange rind. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Resinous on the finish with more oily pine, decent bready sweetness, dank melon, orange, tangerine, nectarine, rindy bitterness. A rich and nicely rounded IPA.

(Rating #6592)

_angst_ (4810) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - NOV 1, 2015
Growler received in trade. Pours very hazy burnt deep yellow with a frothy white head that leaves lots of sticky lacing and trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is fruity and grassy with crackers, white bread, grapefruit juice, mango, star fruit, freshly cut grass, pine needles, candied orange peal, lemon zest and hints of cardboard. Taste is tiny sweet, bitter, fruity and slightly grassy. Mouthfeel is round, tiny dry, astringent and medium bodied. Finish is tiny sweet and bitter with crackers, grapefruit juice, mango, pineapple, star fruit, lychee, freshly cut grass, pine needles, orange zest and lemon zest. Slightly oxidised in the nose but the taste is still great. Not very similar to other Hill hoppy beers but does indeed remind me of Alpine IPAs. Good stuff!
