COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Anna (1902 - ? ) was our grandfather’s sister; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to her and her 13 siblings. In her honor, this Honey Saison is crafted from American malted barley, European and American hops, Vermont wildflower honey, our distinctive farmhouse yeast and water from our well. Unfiltered and naturally carbonated, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Anna. 6.5% ALC/VOL 14º P Ingredients: Pale Malt, American and European Hops, Vermont Wildflower Honey, Ale Yeast, and our Well Water.

750, capped, at Mikkeller. To say this beer is highly carbonated would be to grossly underestimate the ambitions of the carbon dioxide therein. Popping the cap was a big fat jailbreak for this beer. All three bartenders got at least a little tiny bit splashed. Shot everywhere. Big white geyser. Striking. Hazy medium gold in the glass, fluffy eggy head settles quickly to not much, as expected, and the carb was a little on the light side, as expected--too much was lost. Not to the great detriment of the beer by any means, but softened and mellowed it a little overmuch. Big honey nose, showing a little bit of minty herbaceousness and caramel as well, along with some sweet floral notes. That yeast and that honey sugar been makin bebbehs in the bottleses. Creamy medium body, understated carb. Honey, toasty malt, floral bits, and grassiness on the mid palate, with a minty, honeyed finish.

This pours a hazy lemon yellow, maintains an inch of foam, lacing is impressive. I smell Brett, tart notes of lemon, white wine and a kiss of honey. Lemon and wine taste with pretty strong presence of Brett. Honey barely noticeable except at the very end of the finish. Coriander, pepper come through as palate familiarity sets in. Smooth mouthfeel and very drinkable. My favourite of the 3 HF Saisons I got to try.

On tap @Ma che siete venuti a fà (Rome), Birre sotto l’albero. Dorata chiara, un filo torbida, schiuma medio-leggera persistente. Al naso sentori vinosi, note citriche, scorza d’arancia, stalla, nota erbacea, appena balsamica. In bocca è deliziosamente equilibrata e lunga, dolciastra all’attacco con finale acidulo, vinoso. Corpo medio, carbonazione medio-leggera. Buonissima.

December 4, 2014 - with blankboy, gregclow, jercraigs and mabel - 750ml bottle. Hazy bubbly pale gold with a decent frothy white head. Lemony/floral aroma - a little sweet but not obnoxious; simple. Taste follows, less sweet, lemon-drop tartness and really tastes like it has brett and was lightly aged in a white wine barrel - light alcohol - great stuff. Light body, astringent, mild carbonation, longish spicy tart finish. Lovely ** AND KAREN CALLED ME PEDANTIC! Let me explain ad nauseum why she is wrong ;;-))))

Aroma: lightly sour and tart; Appearance: clear light yellow pour with thin white head that dissipates quickly; Taste: dry, white wine taste with sour twist; delicious; Palate: light bodied with medium dry finish; Overall: smooth, complex, excellent. Would definitely get again.
