Arthur (1922-2005) was our grandfather’s youngest brother; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his 13 siblings. In his honor, this Saison is crafted from American malted barley, American and European hops, our distinctive farmhouse yeast and water from our well. Unfiltered and naturally carbonated, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Arthur. 6% Alc/Vol 13ºPlato

Draught. Pours a lightly cloudy straw yellow with a medium white head. Aroma is yeast funk, earth, and a little citrus. Taste is lemon, yeast, spice, some grain, and a very small amount of pepper. Dry finish. Tart and acidic. Medium body. Average carbonation. Crisp mouthfeel with an almost wheat-like texture.

Backlog, ocena przepisana z untappd, w ramach uzupełniania profilu na ratebeer. Najlepszy saison jaki piłem. Owocowa kwasowość, potężne Bretty w aromacie. Coś pięknego. Thanks, Eric!

750ml bottle. Pours golden yellow, slight haze, nice carbonation, foamy white head leaving good lacing. Smells sour, sweet, smooth light hops and white wineyness. Tastes sour, tart, sweet, smooth crispiness and a slight hoppy aftertaste. Great drinkability. Smooth mouthfeel, full for a sour. Lovely.

750ml bottles at Alex’s.

Fresh bottle (thx, stoned99!). Bottled on 2016-09-15. Pours a murky pale golden with a white head. Aroma is bretts, fermented veggies notes. Taste is sour, pretty similar to the aroma with some very slight ascorbic notes. Good stuff. 8-4-8-4-15=39

Aged bottle (thx, Jonathan G.!). Bottled on 2015-06-18. Aroma is more funky, acidic, some slight sweetness. Taste is more smooth and funk, no ascorbic and fermented veggies notes. 8-4-7-4-14=37.

I do prefer fresh bottle to the aged one.

Sergey’s hunt; bottled 2015.06.18; 9-4-7-3-16=38
Highly carbonated. Funky and spicy aroma like one of the best Orvals; but the flavor is less funky than the younger bottle, it’s more astringent, less dynamic.
I prefer the younger bottle.

Sergey’s hunt; bottled 2016.09.15; 8-3-8-4-17=40
Hazy blond color with green hue. The aroma is intense, spicy yeast, funky, with an earthy character, some sweat, almost manure. Dry but smooth mouthfeel; nice spicy flavor, a bit funky, with a nice character of citrus peel; moderate bitterness, but well balanced.

Sampled at Rories house. Hazy golden with a big fluffy white head. A big funky brett aroma with malts. The brett is huge. Not a lot of complexity but the brett carries it.
