Thanks Shaun! Super black pour with a robust frothy tan head. The aroma holds massive coffee incarnations (think mocha), hints of oatmeal, caramel, creamy milk chocolate, cocoa nib, and vanilla. Pure bliss. The flavor holds a sweet side of latte, vanilla sweetness, caramel, and milk chocolate, with a roasty side of cocoa nib, espresso, and bakers chocolate. The palate is thick, rich, and caressing with low carbonation that still maintains soft and pillowy carbonation. The finish is roasty with a hint of alcohol. Excellent barreling on an excellent base beer equals great success.

Bottle, purchased last may. Black pour with creamy brown foam. Lots of coffee in the aroma, vanilla and strong bourbon notes - quite distinct. Tastes like a cup of cold coffee with a shot poured in - a real coffee/bourbon barrel bomb with some notes of vanilla and candied sugar if you dig a bit deeper. Palate is surprisingly dry, which makes the overall body feel a bit thin. Light-medium carbonation is appropriate for the style. It’s a good stout if a bit bourbon heavy for my taste. Flavor and palate disappoint slightly on this one.

Bottle at Nate’s Birthday Bash, thanks to Peter. It pours opaque black, with a thin tan head. The nose is delicate notes of: roasted malt, coffee bean, smoke and coconut. The taste is smoke, roasted malt, coffee, caramel, toffee, vanilla, oak, dark chocolate, coconut and salted liquorice. Full body, average carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Smooth, surprisingly drinkable and not over-done. Good stuff.

Nate2Gs Birthday bash at the Kernel. Opaque dark brown beer, small tan head. Light dry palate. Rich dark malts. Nicely balanced wood and bourbon. A little fruity hop. Really nicely joined up and very drinkable. Delicious!

Bottle at Nate’s Big Time Birthday Brawl. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Rish dark malt aroma, some bourbon and wood. Medium sweet flavor, woody, some dark sugars, bit of dark cocoa, hard alcohol, light earthy bitterness. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Mild warm finish, wood, roasted malts, dark chocolate, some bourbon. Pretty damn exceptional. Great wood incorporation here.

Bottle care of Peter at Nate’s birthday, The Kernel. Colour is very dark brown/black, off white head. Nose is chocolate, coffee, vanilla, oak wood, touch of bourbon whiskey. I’m not usually a fan of bourbon aged beers but this is nicely soft on the palate. Taste is sweet; chocolate, coffee, vanilla, oak. Nice and warm on the palate.

Bottle at Kernel Brewery. Thanks to the peter. Too much wood on aroma. Too much heat. Nice choc. Very dry. Tio much wood way too biozy hot finish. Just too thin. Too much barrel ageing

(Graciously shared by Dak!). Pours dark brown with red hue and khaki head. Aroma has coffee, bourbon, coffee and a bit of vanilla. Taste is sweet with bourbony goodness. Medium bodied with oilt texture. A bit hot. Nice.

HOLY HELL THIS IS GOOD! Black pour, big brown creamy head. Aroma is loaded with coffee, bourbon, vanilla, charred oak. Flavor? Damn! Creamy body leads to an amazing blend of coffee, light hops, vanilla, toasted oak, bourbon. This beer is phenomenal in all aspects. What a brew. Brave to the guys at HF!

Not being a coffee fan, I was approaching this one with mixed feelings, thinking it would be the least favourite of 3 HF I received. This was not the case at all. Tremendous intergration of coffee and barrel. As good an aroma as is possible with these ingrediants. Big soapy head on extreme dark brown body, three-eighths of an inch retained soapy head. Thick lace. Full mouthfeel, satisfying. Tremedously drinkable rich coffee and canila and some bourbon. Not too boozy.Absolute masterpiece. One of the better beers I have had in a long time. Thanks Hopdog.
