500ml bottle poured into a Hill Farmstead oversize wine glass.
A~ BLACK! with a nice tan, desert like head and a tiny bit of lacing.
S~ lots of bourbony oak, charred dark malts, some sweet milk chocolate, caramel, and a lot of vanilla.
T~ pretty much follows the nose with more bitter chocolate here. the bourbon is definitely dominate but you can taste where the Utopias comes in. gives it kind of a strong ale/cognac like aspect. bourbon, vanilla, and slight coffee notes in the after taste.
M~ tastes more like a stout, feels more like an over carbonated porter. definitely too much carbonation for me for this style but still very enjoyable. very smooth and no trace of booze.
O~ the barrel aspects are superb in this brew. interesting barrel as well, Buffalo Trace Bourbon and Sam Adams Utopias! this bottles is pretty old at this point so that may be why the barrel/bourbon are so dominate but i feel like there should be more of an Everett presence that i’m just not getting. not bad by any means but i guess i was just expecting more of a sweet porter rather then an over carbonated bourbony "stout" i use that phrase very loosely haha. definitely worth a try though! Weicher, intensiv malziger Antrunk. Sofortig schokoladig, mild herb, trockene Holznoten, Bourbon. Weich karbonisiert, vollmundig. Die Schokoladennoten nehmen noch zu, etwas Espresso. 500ml bottle gold wax dipped. Poured a pitch black of medium density with an average slized deep beige frothy head. Aroma of chocolate pudding, barrel, brownies, rye, medium toast, vanilla, light bourbon. Body is nice full, average carbonation and a long lingering aftertaste. Flavor of bourbon, darker toast than the aroma, some vanilla, chocolate, touch of citrus, burnt malts, hint of bourbon barrel. Really good stuff. Pour is black as oil. Smell is straight sweet malt. Taste is malty and sweet with a nice bitter backbone.

*Rating from Notes in March* I’ve been trying to track this one down for a VERY long time! I heard there’s another batch on the horizon or maybe that’s just wishful thinking. I’ll update this review on Batch 2 since this is now a very old BA Porter so I’m not sure if it’s going to live up to my own expectations

A - The pour is very much like regular Everett. Dark brown, you get some ruby red hues on the edge of the glass. Not an insane amount of carbonation.
S - Like regular Everett, cocoa and a hint of smoked malts on the nose but this has the addition of a burnt oak sweet vanilla bourbon.
T - Wow. Vanilla, coconut and oak are present. Lovely chocolatey taste with some licorice and a spicy finish
M - Smooth rich mouthfeel but still a medium body with that lovely sparkling taste that I enjoy in HFS dark beers
O - I can get a sense that this is not as big as it once was but boy is it really really good. I look forward to batch 2!!!! (please Shaun?)
Bottle @ Stouts Tasting Pt II. Cheers to Ken for showing us how its done. The pour’s deep brown with a tight light brown head. Gorgeous appearance. The nose is rich chocolate cake. Caramel and vanilla. Shredded coconut and burnt cinnamon toast. The taste is red berry. Jammy forest fruits. Slightly funky. Burnt caramel sweet. Some vanilla. Plenty of bourbon accents. Bottle at THE stouts tasting part 2, big thanks to Kenny. It pours near black with a thick light tan head. The nose is toffee, caramel, brown sugar, chocolate powder, earth, roasted malt and bourbon. The taste is roasted malt, cocoa powder, earth, toast, bourbon, earth, hay, dried fruit and decent bitterness with a dry, roasty finish. Full body and moderate carbonation. Well integrated and pretty flavoursome.
