On tap Farmhouse, thanks Jeff B! Clear chestnut pour with a medium white head that lasts nicely. Soft biscuity malt character leads to hints of caramel, and mild funk. Great acidity, which was balanced out by assertive malt character, providing a really well rounded brew. I always get excited to try base beers of funky barrel aged beers I enjoy, and this was no exception. The Norma barrel definitely worked wonders on this, and I enjoyed trying it. yourefragile (140) - Washington, Washington DC, USA - FEB 27, 2013
Old review. 2L growler consumed Spring 2011.
Pours a hazy golden amber color with an off white head that slowly fades to a thin collar. Spicy and fruity aroma of yeast esters, bread, ripe fruit, pepper and clove. Full bodied and well carbonated, slightly bitter in the finish. Flavor has a strong toasted and rye base, spicy and estery, with some light fruitiness providing sweetness before a floral bitter finish. A pleasant BdG. hbmason (1086) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - MAR 7, 2012
On draft. Light orange color with a nice head. Nice light funk, yet very clean tasting. Refreshing and very enjoyable. fbm115 (187) - New Jersey, USA - AUG 14, 2011
So i got this on draught at HFS saison fest. HFS globe glass 4ozs. Pour a brown redish color with a tan colored head. lots of head. Smell is slightly carmel with a bit of yeasty spicey esters. Taste is full flavor with a carmel malt and clean spicey yeast esters. smooth medium mouthfeel. overall very enjoyable and wish i had more time with it.
So i was hanging out and Shaun calls out to me what are you drinking? So i respond BdM. Then some creeper next to me asks me if he can smell my beer. I’m all about sharing but not trying to let some stranger dunk their nose straight into my glass. Sorry i’m not as heady as the locals. Travlr (24319) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - AUG 13, 2011
Draft at the farmstead. Murky amber color, massive tan ice cream cone head, great lacing. Aroma is brown bread and light spice. Taste is smooth, malty, fruity. Decent.

Draft. Pours a gorgeous red with lots of head. Smell is an earthy Belgian yeast aroma. Taste is very clean and straightforward. Very very minor berry flavors. Glouglouburp (6103) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 22, 2011
In short: A rustic and yeasty rye-based Saison. Very goodjredmond (8206) - New York, New York, USA - JUN 5, 2011
How: Tap at Siboire, Sherbrooke QC
The look: Cloudy dark orange body topped by a medium beige head with medium retention
In long: Nose is an unusual mix of rustic yeast and rye. Taste is a bit of fruity caramel, a slice of fresh rye bread, yeast, a light spicy sensation, herbal hops. Appears to be only moderately attenuated but there was something pleasantly dusty in this beer that made it appear quite dry. Full and fluffy body with a lively carbonation. Another good beer from Hill Farmstead. I wanted to slow down drinking but since the arrival of Hill Farmstead I gave up on this idea. At least I’m eating healthy, no barbwire sandwich and no nails soup for me, no sir.
Draft at Hawthornes with Dallas, Andrew, Elizabeth, and Jesse. Pours a dark, hazy amber body with spotty white lacing. Aroma is sweet Belgian notes, candy, spice, funk. Mouthfeel is solid - smooth with notes of sweet Belgian candy, funk, yeast, and some hay malts. Rciesla (5499) - Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA - MAY 2, 2011
Growler. Pours an amber orange body with an off white head and great head retention. Very bitter body. Earth and spicy, tea, and toasted bitterness tangles your mouth in knots. Very dry with a cantaloupe and pear like sweetness that gets washed over to a bitter herbal finish. Very nice, and quite quaff able. TaktikMTL (7739) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - APR 27, 2011
