Bottle: The aroma consists of grapefruit, tropical fruits, orange, and a hint of lemon. It pours a hazy golden-orange with a small white head with spotty lacing and some oily legs. The flavor starts with moderate orange, tropical fruits, and a hint of lemon. The finish has moderate grapefruit. Overall, tasty, but a slight notch below Abner.
Growler muled by oteyj, thanks! Cloudy golden color, huge fluffy white head. Intense pine aroma. Taste is very bitter pine resin and bread. Too bitter for my taste. Reynolds314 (3450) - Connecticut, USA - NOV 23, 2011
Two of my favorite breweries collaborate on a very well done IPA. Citrus elements dominate. A mouthfeel that seems thicker and richer then I expected. Also resin like notes in the finish but little bitterness. GT (10000) - San Diego, California, USA - NOV 22, 2011
750mL growler/flip-top thanks to oteyj. Pours a cloudy orange sherbet with a medium, creamy, off-white head. Decent lace. Nose is thick jackfruit, durian, vanilla, orange sorbet. Feels a lot like HFS Harlan but not as aggressive or tropical melon heavy. Taste is very meaty with big vanilla booziness, salty, bitter orange peel and grapefruit pith. Not nearly as nice as the Harlan. Very aggressive, boozy, richer. Big orange juice character. In the right direction for style, but slightly too sticky and white sugary fruits. Big boozy character. craftycarl21 (2338) - Seattle, Washington, USA - NOV 22, 2011
Thank you to my main man oteyj for bringing a 750 of this back. Hazy apricot pour with a smallish bubbly white head. Nose is rife with pineapple, apricot, mango, pot, manure, hot earthiness, and interesting rice graininess. Flavor brings WAY more citrus to the table with big pink grapefruit, blood orange, aggressive lemon, and more of that nectar/tropical fruit that mixes with the earthy and herbal presence that is so prevalent in many of HF’s IPAs. This beer strikes me as a mixture of Jai Alai and Abner but with extra nuance on the side. Superb.

Served in a HFS tasting glass by Mr. S. E. Hill. Appears a bright golden orange color that is mostly clear. small white cap holds up for a minute. Smell is an intense blast of mango, pine, melon hop resins and accompanied by a soft sweet golden malt. Taste is rich with hop flavors of mango, melon and pine. the malt flavor is a bit candied with a light sweetness that is cleaned up by a moderate to high bitter bite. the malt definitely lets the hop flavors shine through. The is no alcohol to smell taste or feel. The mouthfeel is full body rich liquid with mild carbonation that is a touch creamy. Overall what stands out about this offering is how clean and intense the flavors are. It’s everything an Imperial IPA should be. cakanator (452) - South Hadley, Massachusetts, USA - NOV 20, 2011
Another amazing offering from HF. On tap at the recent release. Pours out wonderful cloudy golden color, fluffy white head. Aromas are fantastic, big floral and citrus, earthy, leather, acidic. Palate follows with a big citrus bite up front, great acidity on the edge and full finish. Fantastic IIPA without the cloying sweetness you can get. So clean. oteyj (2139) - New Hampshire, USA - NOV 20, 2011
On tap at the brewery. Epic hazy orange pour with a tight foam white head. Huge orange citrus, grapefruit, and herbal dankness gives way to a malt character that can only be likened to the worlds most delicious rice cakes. Epic thick rich palate with creamy soft effervescence. Epic. Ernesto987 (6050) - Arizona, USA - NOV 19, 2011
Sample in line at bottle release at brewery. Huge hop flavors. Not much for a malt bill not really getting the rice. Amazing beer keep going guys!
