On tap at the Farmhouse. Dark brown pour with a small off-white head. Aroma holds lots of nice grain character, some grassy hop, and a touch of roasty bitterness. Flavor is much the same, with a great grain bill headlining. Medium mouthfeel and carbonation; drinks nicely. How: From a very fresh growler. Post Ebenezer camping party
The look: Dark amber-brown body topped by a small beige head
In long: Nose is uber-hoppy bursting with fresh fruity hops and some freshly cut pine-tree. From the nose you’d never guess this is a black beer. Taste has a lot of roast but none of the chocolaty/coffee/molasses/etc flavors associated with highly roasted malts. This is pure dry roasted earthy wheat followed by a ton of fresh refreshing fruity hops and some pine-tree to dry out the beer even more than it is already. Great brew. I’m not sure I ever had something that I would describe as “Black Wheat IPA” but I know that I want more!!! Thanks to the generous soul who brought the growler. People are generous with me because deep down I’m a good person. My only fault is drinking a little too much beer. That, and having a totally distorted opinion of myself.

Spicy, citrusy hops swirl around and within roasted, caramelized cereals, effortlessly evolving into a levelled earthy, resinous bitterness. Black Wheat Ale? Whatever it is, this is yet another succulent Farmhouse creation from Shaun.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A creamy veil of foam skirts the darkest brown.
-This one yielded a lot more complexity upon warming up.
-The earthy finish, accompanied by light roastiness, was not too different from the character of some freshly-picked mushrooms.
-The soft carbonation and calculated dextrins make this really drinkable.

Appearance : Nice brown creamy head. Long head retention.
Aroma : Very piny and slightly resinous. Very leafy and fresh hops. Some fruits.
Taste : Quite fruity and piny. Slightly roasted. Light wheat but not a lot. Finish hoppy and resinous. Very very dry.
Overall : Amazing nose. Nice fruity and leafy hops. Taste is enjoyable but a bit light. Body is a bit too thin maybe. Still very enjoyable. Could smell this all day.
On tap at the brewery. Brisk, biting hop aroma with a murky sugar profile
and some faint darkness. The hops are zesty and
sharp. Pours a muddied dark brown, with minimal head.
Flavors are mingling and odd. Some distant wheat
sugar, a nip of caramel, some catty hop flavors and a
light bit of piquant yuzu zest. Kind of like a hoppy
dunkelweizen, except done a bit thin. Interesting,
but maybe not overly successful.

On tap at the Three Penny Tap Room - Poured a dark brown in color with a medium off-white head. Aroma is a bit roasty, a bit sour and a bit hoppy. I like it just a bit... Flavor follows pretty closely, but a bit more roastiness in the flavor profile. Finish is mild of roasted malts and slightly sour... Another good one from Mr. Hill...
