COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Edward (1917-2002) is our grandfather; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his five children. In his honor, this American Pale Ale is dutifully crafted from American malted barley, a plethora of American hops, our ale yeast and water from Edwards well. It is unfiltered, naturally carbonated, and dry hopped. Aromatic and flowery, with impressions of citrus and pine, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Edward. 13.5P, 85 ibus, 5.2% abv. Pale and Caramel malt; Centennial, Chinook, Columbus, Simcoe, and Warrior hops; House Ale Yeast, and our Well Water.

On tap at Whetstone Station in Brattleboro. Had one, then had another. Excellent, well balanced, easy drinking ale from a premier brewery. Rather than reiterate hundreds of comments about the attributes of this brew (color, aroma, palate, etc.) Im thinking about what makes this ale stand out... it is clean and crisp, complex in a subtle way, seductive and satisfying. Ive heard the phrase brewers art tossed around for years, but here it is. A masterpiece.

Tap at a market in DC Pours slightly hazy lite orange hue with a small soapy white head. Nose is fruity pebbles slightly husky malt profile. Flavors are less hoppy than you would think. Nice tangerine rind and malt husks. Finish is short lingering dry malt profile and lingering lite bitterness. Very good but not as crazy as i was expecting.

More earthy and understated compared to some of Hills other beers but really well balanced and nuanced. Citrus, sweet bread, flower shop, lots of depth. Medium mouthfeel. Medium length finish.

Great go to beer in VT. On draft. Pours medium hazy orange with minimal white head. Nice crisp hop aroma but somewhat subdued. Fantastic delicate flavor.

Keg at The Farmhouse, Burlington. Cloudy golden, mid sized head. Passionfruit, grapefruit and starfruit up front. Bone dry with light-medium body and clean mouthfeel. Cucumber and starfruit, some pink grapefruit. Pleasantly dry, but a bit hard and edgy. Mid bitter finish. If there is any brewery usually living up to a hype it is HF. This beer however doesnt, yet it is pretty good.

On tap. Pours cloudy light yellow with a one-finger, white mostly lasting head that leaves good lacing. Light fresh aroma of grass, hay and citrus. Lightly bitter, lightly sweet, fairly dry body and finish, light to medium body, well balanced with a light touch. APA doesnt get any better.

On tap at the brewery. Poured a very hazy, opaque light yellow orange with a small white head. Aroma of pine and some faint bitter grapefruit. Taste follows, dominated by bitterness with a hint of pine. Searching yields some faint orange rind. Yeasty light mouthfeel. Slight biscuit in the finish. Clean with no off flavors but other than that did not stand out for me in any meaningful way.
