COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Edward (1917-2002) is our grandfather; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his five children.  In his honor, this American Pale Ale is dutifully crafted from American malted barley, a plethora of American hops, our ale yeast and water from Edward’s well.  It is unfiltered, naturally carbonated, and dry hopped.  Aromatic and flowery, with impressions of citrus and pine, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Edward.  13.5ºP, 85 ibus, 5.2% abv. Pale and Caramel malt; Centennial, Chinook, Columbus, Simcoe, and Warrior hops; House Ale Yeast, and our Well Water.

On draft in Brattleboro. Pours a light hazy and golden. A light fluffy and dissipating head. Hoppy on the nose but not overly bitter on the palate. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Torst. My namesake beer. Light golden hazy beer with a soft medium white foam head. Nose is tangerine, clementine, orange, grapefruit, peach, pale husky barley grains, lightly toasted malt. Taste is tangerine, slightly tangy bitter citrons peel, light toasted cereal grains, peach. Very tasty.

*4/6/2013 750ml growler poured into a Hill Farmstead oversized wine glass. A~ glowing copper with minimal head and lots of lacing. S~ a crazy amount of earthy pine, and lots of citrus. mostly grapefruit. T~ very crisp right off the bat. pretty much just like the nose, lots of pine and citrus followed by a crazy bitter hop finish. M~ perfect carbonation, and a dry finish. yet still very refreshing. O~ very nice pale! now that i’ve had a good amount of HF hoppy stuff, this is definitely up there! once again Pales/IPA’s have always been a summer thing to me and this is another one i could drink all summer. way too kill it again Shaun.

Draft. Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), moderately to heavily hoppy (peach, melon, apricot), lightly yeasty (dough), with light notes of honey and gum. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. It’s really a shame about the sourness, because otherwise this could be a really nice beer...the fruity hop character is quite nice. The brewer just seems to like sour beer in general, even in styles that aren’t typically sour. And sadly I’m not a sourhead. It’s not all the way to Jolly Pumpkin / Fantome everything-is-infected status, but it has become abundantly clear that Mr. Hill’s decidedly New World take on everything just doesn’t jive with my Old World tastes.

On tap @ Fools Gold. This one has a really good looking cloudy honey orangey colored body with a tall and lasting eggshell colored really dense and nice looking head. On the nose it’s almost apple juice sweet. Lots of peachy sweetness, freshly hopped, a little stone fruits. Smells really nice. Tastes even better! . Man this stuff is superbly balanced. It’s nice cloudy light and oily in the mouth, just above average on the prickling carbonation. So smooth. A little likely drinking velvet in the mouth this. Hoppy tones, a little clementine peel freshness. I could easily have a few of these anytime. Top stuff! 14.06.2017

Pours hazy gold into a shaker. Bright white head with good retention recedes leaving spider lacing. Tropical fruit aromas. Soft with grapefruit, meadow and weed upfront turning to marshmallow before dry pith and resin in the lasting finish.

Draft at Blackback. Likely the last draft HF for awhile. Cloudy gold with rocky white head, great retention and lacing. Aroma: citrus, grass, herbs, some resin (though leans more citrus). Lean and hop-driven. Dry, moderate to assertive bitterness at end. Texture not as soft as Im coming to expect -- oily texture, average carbonation, light body. This has a bite to it. Overall: nice hoppy pale ale. Didnt see God, but what do you expect? Its just beer.
