Entered to celebrate my rating number 19,600. Draft. A black beer with a lazing dark brown head. The aroma has strong notes of chocolate combined with medium notes of roasted malt and straw. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, grain, chocolate, and straw as well as lighter notes of coffee, hops, and flowers, leading to a dry roasted finish. Nice body. joergen (28742) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - JAN 15, 2011

VIII. More or less black colour with a small brown head. Aroma is coffee, caramel, toffee and some slight earthy notes. Flavour is roasted, toffeeish, some ashes and mild earthy notes. Balanced, and though the cap did leak (due to tiong who brought it), this one was nicely balanced.
Boy, when Shaun says "robust" he’s not kidding! Bottle at Highland Lodge. Very dense black color, let’s no light through (of course, I drank it by candlelight at sunset, on the porch). Aroma of concentrated espresso and 70% cacao dark chocolate. Taste is rich, thick dark chocolate mousse. Would love to try the BA version. omhper (25351) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - AUG 24, 2013
Bottled at PBF. Dark brown, small head. Earthy coffee aroma. Mid sweet with medium-full body and rounded mouthfeel. Tobacco and chocolate. Resiny bitterness that sets in early. Plenty of pleasant flavours deriving from roasty malt and hops, but somewhat lacking in the very heart. Nutty finish with severe bitterness. Good porter, but not top-50 fodder. cgarvieuk (25253) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - DEC 14, 2012

Opaque black - brown beer, big fluffy tan head. Softish palate, light and airy. Light touch of dark malt with a good streak of medium chocolate (ie not dark and not milk). Super light roast. Very modest citric hop provides a counterpoint. Trace of red berry fruits. Airy finish. Pretty fine porter. LIght and super drinkable.
