COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Florence (1915-1967) was our grandfather’s sister, and Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to her and her 13 siblings. In her honor, this Belgian inspired Wheat ale is crafted from American malted barley, Organic Vermont wheat, European and American hops, our distinctive farmhouse yeast and water from our well. It is unfiltered and naturally carbonated. Soft, cloudy, and fresh, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Florence. 5% ALC/VOL 12º P Ingredients: Pale Malt; Vermont Organic Wheat; American and European Hops; Ale Yeast, and our Well Water.

Bottle in Seattle. Thanks Chris. White cream, pale hazy yellow. Woody malt nose, rye it seemed. Fresh tart character. Pretty delicious. Great acidity.

Draft at worthy burger. Pours straw yellow with a white head. Leaves some lacing in the glass. Nice funk and tart notes on the nose and tongue. Finished dry. Fairly nice.

Bottle: Poured a pale hazy yellow color ale with a large white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of Brett notes with some floral notes is enticing. Taste is a nice mix of Brett notes with some floral notes with light tart notes. Body is light with god carbonation. Good but I feel that the Brett notes have overtaken the other flavours – this one would have been better fresh.

Keg at beer temple. Pours hazy golden, nose is brett funk, oak, banana, herbal, taste is zesty, sour funk, bitter citrus.

Tap at BeerTemple. Hazy golden color with white head. Aroma is mango, dough, fresh yeasts, a bit milky. Taste is mango, dough, complex rustic notes, just the right amount of tartness. Medium carbonation, the magic kind of finish that makes you want more. Amazing beer, although it supports my feeling that HF's house character is almost too complex for a Saison.

UPDATED: SEP 15, 2017 A hazed golden wheat ale with a thin white head. In aroma, sweet fruity malt with light banana esters, light cloves, light funk, very nice. In mouth, tart apricot, light ground cherry, light Brett, light lactic notes, very nice.

Bill Becker (1370) - Casper, Wyoming, USA - SEP 13, 2017
Bottled March 2nd 2017, 5.2%abv. Pours a hazy straw colour, head of foam is a fine layer after a few minutes. Good lacing. Smells tart with notes of cloves, white pepper, wheat, Coriander . The tart taste somewhat overwhelms the Saison flavours but what I smelled is there. Would have been more to my liking if the base Saison shined through more. Medium body with generous carbonation. A very enjoyable Saison. I wonder if it was this tart fresh or it grew over the 6 months.

Schwarzbart (210) - Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 9, 2017
Pours a medium sized white, fluffy, foam head. Color is a vibrant pale yellow with a mild haziness. Light puckering mouthfeel finishing crisp. Lime upfront and tart with an incredible balance of bright yeast, lemon, pale malt, light florals and lemongrass. So well made and deserving of a style definition. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
