A~ pitch black, with a nice tan head and a tiny bit of lacing. a slightly oily look to the top as well.
S~ ohhh! bitter chocolate, roasty dark malts, lots of oak, a tad bit of coffee, dark grapes, tiny bit of figs and an abundance of wine sweetness.
T~ pretty much follows the nose. definitely less coffee notes here, i assumed they would fade by now, but thats ok theres soo much more to offer! this is very sweet, with a nice tartness. i’m fine with loosing the coffee and gaining the tart! the Madeira barrels are really what makes this an amazing brew and i’m sure the year of age helped as well!
M~ a little more carbonation then i like a stout to have but its still very nice. super smooth and i guess i should have mentioned this in the "taste" but its not boozy once so ever.
O~ an all around amazing stout, especially if you like em’ tart! soo much going on but you can still easily pick out whats what. wine barrels make everything better! haha i would like to try this fresh next time around to see how much coffee is actually there. biggsbowler (625) - Port St. Lucie, Florida, USA - NOV 7, 2016

Bottle. Dark brown pour with a chocolate head. Big Madeira/vinous barrel bouquet. Wow, the Madeira has totally taken over. Slightly oxidized with all kinds of vinous and barrel notes. Bottle, massive thanks to Al, we’ve been wanting to get after this one for awhile. It’s not every day I can get a 4 year old hill tick that is still holding up beautifully. A Friend said she was tasting amazing right now so we decided to dive in. Pours deep black with coffee head and light lacing. Damn that’s some de Molen roast, fudge, bitter coffee, espresso, cocoa, soil, saigon cinnamon, and dark fruit. Medium to full body. Lingers for days. Almost completely black. Reddish brown at the edges. Mocha head that is well retained.
Smell is intense coffee immediately. Almost a smokey aroma, too. Red wine. A little bit of tannins.
Taste is burnt malt, almost smokey malt character. Coffee flavor lends itself to the burnt malts. Red wine flavor is more prevalent in the finish, along with a bitter malt aftertaste. Intense flavors.
Not thick, but a palate wrecker of flavor. Intense in every respect. Medium heavy with ample carbonation.
Excellent combination of flavors. The barrel is unique and adds to the barrage of flavors that is this beer.

From notes taken during a tasting a couple weeks ago.
Moderate red wine notes with light oak and some dark fruit. Medium light roast with light chocolate and hints of soy sauce.
Pours black with a dark mocha head that lingers on the edges.
Flavor has moderate Madeira notes with moderately strong roast notes. Light chocolate and dark fruit character. Some light soy sauce and faint oak character. Medium bitterness and a hint of alcohol.
Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth.
Overall, a pretty nice beer with a good red wine character and nice dark fruit notes. A bit of oxidation in the form of soy sauce starting to show through. Huhzubendah (3705) - Washington DC, USA - AUG 21, 2014
Genealogy of Morals, batches 1 & 2.
The beer is dark brown, nearing black, with a half inch of beige collar. The aroma offers roast, coffee, barrel character, red wine - smells great. Still lots of coffee presence. A hint of spice, perhaps cinnamon. Big barrel notes. Delicious beer. I prefer this to Damon and Port Damon, but Double Damon is superior IMO. Medium to full bodied and slick on the palate. Chocolate notes. Hints of dessert wine. Very good.

500 ml bottle shared by Huhzubendah, thanks Matt! Pours a very dark brown color of prunes/near black with hues of dark cherry juice when backlit. Fading beige head moves to the edge, and pours nearly still. Aroma is riasted malt, light smoke, peat, whiskey, oak, dark fruits with prune, cherry, rye and light cinnamon notes. Flavor is same with coconut sweetness in addition to above. Full bodied with silky creamy mouthfeel, subdued carbonation, and sweet tobacco finish. Bottle, thanks to Dan for sharing, tasted 03/02/2014. Pours dark black, medium dark tan head fades to a fizzy haze over half the surface, medium ring of lacing left behind. Aroma is sharp coffee, bitter roast grounds, moderately sweet dark chocolate and toffee, vanilla, marshmallow, lingering fruity character. Taste is dark chocolate baking powder, marshmallow, round coffee roast, dark fruity finish with earthy barrel notes. Becomes more complex and differentiated as the beer warms. Medium thick body, could use a bit more depth to round things out. Really nice.
