Johnsense (1822) - - JAN 15, 2018
UPDATED: FEB 19, 2018 Deep brown pour, thumb sized tan head dissipates into a ring, small specs of lacing. Leathery aroma, tobacco, bourbon, roasted malts, black coffee. Molasses up front, light leather, dark chocolate, coffee, bourbon whiskey. Medium-ish body, a bit on the thinner side. Call it a good imperial porter hybrid.

a blend of whiskeys supersedes the imperial stout. Black without any sign of head. Ok, but not so great. Thanks for sharing, Brian.Bit watered down but accounting for that.

650 ml bottle. Pours black with light head. Aromas of light bourbon, green oak, dark sugar, nougat and slick roasted malts. Flavors of coconut, dry woody bourbon, rich roasted malts, nougat, and sweet dark chocolate. Excellent.

Bottle poured at Matt's. Much thanks for sharing this one! Thick, dark brown pour. Heavy, sweet caramel, chocolate, and booze aroma. Very strong impression. Robust, roasted flavor. Strong toasted malts, caramel m. Warming toasted finish. Quite the compound barrel character going on with this. Potent, but full of enjoyable flavor. A bit om the harsh side. Could be a little more smooth, but quite a beer as an overall.

Dark brown. No head. There's a nice chocolatey character, like molasses, touch of smoke...appetizing. Soft, sweet, and has a nice soft smokey. character. Nice brown sugar notes. Luscious.

500mL bottle, sent fro yourilevesque (thanks a lot, Youri), pours black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out lots of bourbon and lightly smokey whiskey upfront, followed by caramel and burnt brown sugar. Flavour is decadent, with fudge, bourbon barrels, caramel and burnt brown sugar. Medium sweet, very barrel-pronounced, and caramely on the finish. Very good.

16oz bottle shared with Julien. Pours black. Cappuccino head. Foamy micro frothy bubbles. Thick around the edges. Smells boozy, sweet chocolate. Smooth. Bourbon sweet wood Barrel. Caramel and molasses. Subtle sweet dried dark fruits. Tastes sweet dark chocolate, roast Malts, caramel, dried fruits. Not much toastiness. Strong boozy flavor that works perfectly with the rest of it. You can distinctively taste the Aaron and the GoM. Very smooth palet. Thick and viscous. Great aftertaste.
