on tap at Hill Farmstead poured into one of their tasting tulips.
A~ glowing bright yellow with a fluffy head and some lacing.
S~ very sweet, honey like. lots of bitterness that goes along with earthy grass.
T~ follows the nose with the sweetness, a lot more earth here. i love the Motueka hop presence, definitely different than your run of the mill hop. less citrusy than most.
M~ very dry finish from the bitterness and nice carbonation. also slightly thick.
O~ not my favorite of their single hop series but its interesting to try all these different hops in Hill’s incredible style. i really like the sweetness though, crazy different from most pales. give it a shot if you have the chance, of course! jredmond (8648) - New York, New York, USA - DEC 29, 2015
Many drafts sampled at Rattle n’ Hum West with Brendan, Linh, Tony & Audrey. Pours a beautiful, bright yellow creme body with thick white head and lacing. Nose is fresh squeezed lemons, berries fruits and soft funky hop profile. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and pillowy with notes of fresh grassy hop, funky hop, funky sour lemon, citrus fruits, soft honey and faint dank character. Another great IPA from Hill. dlovell2 (2308) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - DEC 28, 2015
On tap at brewery. Pours copper with a white head. Aroma is grassy, with citrus, and earthy pine. Flavor is grapefruit with fresh grass, tropical fruits. Finishes with an earthy, spicy pine hoppiness. My first experience with this hop. 50belair (3682) - Florida, USA - DEC 27, 2015
Growler. Yellow pour with a white head. Grassy hop aromas. Taste follows suit. Really clean but a bit uninspiring. Good body and mouthfeel. ctipping (2236) - Florida, USA - DEC 25, 2015
750 mL growler. Hazy light orange with a big white head. Smell is lemon and tangerine. Kinda earthy and pithy. Doesn’t smell sweet like other HF pales. Taste, again, isn’t that sweet. Hops lend grapefruit, garlic, some spiciness almost like rye, and pine. Finish is bitter grapefruit. Medium light body. No experience with motueka hops before this beer, so I didn’t know what to expect. Standard HF craftsmanship, although this hop doesn’t lend itself to quickly dispatching glass after glass like, say, Nelson or Citra.

The expected, luminous golden kiwi haze, ample whitecap forming. There’s a subtle, slow and intense layering to the aroma, revealing a fun mixture of pacific and noble character. Fresh, crisp pear and lychee; lemon custard and almond pastry; biscuit; white grapes with morning dew. Complex, but elegant, restrained fruitiness, shimmery, clear. The flavor has less of this crystalline appeal, but it is an effective facsimile; dankness and some peppery floral spice quiet the fruitiness somewhat, and the ever present tightrope crisp pale malts offer a clean, drying sweetness. The palate fits the template; soft, feathery, regal. The intimate, fun connection between noble and NZ flavor is exemplified here. yourilevesque (1865) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 14, 2015
Stoned99 (1674) - St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 4, 2015
750ml growler bought today @Hill Farmstead. Aroma: grassy hops, pineapples and citrus. App: hazy straw, small white head, some lacing. Taste and palate: thin body, grassy, fruity but a bit watery too, moderate dry and long bitter finish. Overall: never heard of that hop before. Nose is ok but it’s a bit tasteless. Should still be able to finish without a problem. drsandman (1620) - New York, USA - DEC 4, 2015
On tap at the Jeffrey NYC. Pours a hazy thick orange, minimal white head. Aroma is citrus pith, grass, light pine, cracker, bread, herbal notes. Flavor is relatively dry pine, guava, dry cracker malt, grapefruit and citrus pith. Medium body, drinkable and enjoyable - not my favorite hop or HFS beer. Tap, at the brewery. Hazy gold. Firm, clingy, white head. Very pithy aroma. Hint of lemon. Hint of pine needle. Taste is light bitter, with some orange sweetness. Clean mouthfeel. Airy, light carbonation. Super drinkable. Light bitter finish, with hints of the sweetness.
