COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formally brewed at Hilliard’s Brewing Company. The name originates from an anagram (Anchor Steam) but the key element of this pre-prohibition style beer is the process of fermenting it with a lager yeast at an ale-like higher temperature.

12 oz can poured. A copper clear pour with a ton of foam head. I can remember drinking this at the Hilliard’s location years ago. Still weird to see it during my visit to Odin the other day. This seems to be one of the few beers of theirs that is still going strong. Easy drinking lager here, a slightly creamier body than expected. Soft and smooth rich malts. Clean finish. Quite tasty. I can get on board with this one. Something a little different. I like it.

Can:   Amber, big sudsy off-white head, fairly nice lacing.   Bready nose, a little grainy, sweet.   Soft grainy maltiness up front, a little bready, soft sweetness.   A bit more grainy than others.   Mild to moderate sweetness.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Lingering breadiness and griany notes.   Tiz decent.

ACHops (1584) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JUN 7, 2016
12 oz can @ Hilliard’s. Pours medium copper with thin white head. Aroma is thin light caramel malt, dry on the back. Taste is slightly nutty light caramel malt; oaky, dry, and clean on the finish. Easy drinking, nutty, corny malt body carries through the finish. Not quite of Anchor Steam quality, but in that vicinity taste-wise. One of the better Hilliard’s beers to style.

Jaune pâle avec une petite robe blanche. L’arôme des céréales et du houblon floral. En bouche cst léger, avec les céréales et un peu de sucre. Bien équilibré et facile à boire.

reebtogi (6277) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - JUN 19, 2015
Sampled during VCBW 2015 on the PNE grounds pouring a golden orange color with a small white head leaving very little lacing on the glass. Aroma is mild with some grass and grains. Taste is a grassy and light citrus hop bitterness. Light to medium bodied with moderate carbonation. A light easy drinking brew that is fairly standard.
