Dark red-orange, white head. Aroma is apples, fruit, caramel. Taste is sweet, light grassy, caramel, fruits. tmoreau (4643) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - OCT 27, 2009
Enjoyed during a closed door tasting session in Green Bay with the brewer, Joe Karls. Poured a deep copper/amber with a modest, white, bubbly foam head and light streaks of lacing. The aroma offered some light esters, a little graininess, smooth malt and a touch of caramel. The flavor continued these adding some malt sweetness and subtle hop bitterness. A medium bodied beer that finished pleasantly dry. A solid and long standing offering from Hinterland. GAManiac (1946) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - JAN 26, 2009
On tap at The Seasons in Appleton.
Pours a deep, clear amber with a small off-white head that recedes to a ring and leaves only a hint of lacing. The aroma is mostly sweet caramel malts with some faint hops and other grains. The taste doesn’t stray far from the aroma with the light caramel malts dominating. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with good carbonation. A drinkable but fairly basic amber. Pours a dark amber color with a thin white head, and minimal lacing Aroma is roasted malts, some caramel, a bit of chocolate and spice. Taste is much the same with a bit of citrus.

UPDATED: DEC 7, 2008 This one surprised me. Appearance is a ruddy color with nice amounts of off white lacing. Aroma is nice notes of caramel, some moderate hop fruitiness, and some slight spice. Taste is much the same with some nice fruitiness and caramel intertwined. This is probably one of the best amber ales I have had in a long time.

UPDATED: MAY 15, 2011 On tap at the Green Bay Brewpub. I normally don’t bother with ambers, but I needed another 8oz sample, so I went with it. Amber brown with a creamy beige head. Malty caramel nose with a touch of hops coming through. Malty caramel flavors that are followed by citrus, apples, and floral hop notes. The hops are fresh and strong for an amber, lingering long in the finish. A tasty and drinkable hopped up amber. 7/3/8/3/15

This brew had a nice, deep amber colour. It had a soft caramel undertone with a malted mouthfeel. Very light as far as abv goes, but a nice touch of hops in the finish. Skyview (6099) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - SEP 9, 2007
On draught at the brewpub in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Pours a clear coppery amber brew with a creamy off-white head that has good retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, some fruity character with scents of apple, pear and some flowery hops. Taste is lightly carbonated, medium bodied with a smooth caramel malt and mild bitter flavor. Finish is slightly bitter with a multi-grain malt aftertaste that quickly disappears. BDR (2535) - Roseville, Minnesota, USA - AUG 29, 2007
On tap at the brewery. Faint hops on the nose of this amber beer. Very grainy taste with a clean finish. Ughsmash (7510) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 19, 2007
On tap at Hinterland. Poured a brilliant medium caramel with a short, well-retained cap of sticky white head.. solid dose of rising carbonation too. Aroma picked up sweet, lightly-toasted caramel with some darker fruits at the core.. dusty with a bit of detergent on the back. Flavor was of moderately sweet caramel and darker fruits again.. light floral bitter accents worked well with a light hit of citrus at the finish. Well-balanced and light-medium bodied.. mild bitterness.
