Pours a deep amber (go figure) with thin white head. A lot of lacing is left. Aroma is malty and sweet. The taste is full of malts up front, then some caramel and roasted notes come in before a slightly hoppy finish. Not too bad! pkbites (970) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 18, 2010
Rather dark for an amber. Nose is nice and warm: caramel and malt. Flavor is warm but it has a metallic taste that assaults it’s overall score. There is a taste in this that is more reminiscence of a Bock than an amber ale. It’s nice, even very good. But the strange metal taste needs to go! annunz123 (963) - Taunton, Massachusetts, USA - SEP 14, 2012
Pours a cloudy reddish brown with not much head. Caramel, nut, and a little pine bitterness in the aroma. Taste starts sweet with caramel and some bitterness. Finish is mildly bitter with a little smoke. Nice. Petrucci914 (910) - Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 6, 2008
Pours a dark amber color with a thin white head, and minimal lacing Aroma is roasted malts, some caramel, a bit of chocolate and spice. Taste is much the same with a bit of citrus.

Decent Amber. Aroma is light with some maltiness and hay. Taste is better than the aroma. Very sweet with carmel and malts. Alittle to sticky on the palate, but not bad overall.

UPDATED: AUG 21, 2013 Pours a beautiful clear amber with a good sized white-tan head. Nose is parts hop and malt. Very creamy on the palate, taste is a little hoppy, some floral notes that somewhat disguise the malt backbone. A bit of sharpness on the finish. A decent beer, not one of their best, but well suited to those who prefer a little extra hop bitterness to their ale. dekester1 (369) - Town of Maple Creek, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 20, 2010
Hinterland tapper was reddish amber with a nice frothy lace. Aroma was of malts and hops. Taste was similar - no non-sense malts with a nice mild-hop wrap follow-up. Palate was decent. Overall a nice amber that’s worth a second, third, etc... try. Jabswitch (278) - Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 28, 2006
Give this beer a try if you get to GB. Only available on tap at the Hinterland Brewery. (right across the street from the Titletown Brewery, another fine micorbrew). Nice to look at, a fairly rich but not sweet taste. But I really liked the livliness on the palate. It is really a fine beer which I knew nothing about until I gave it a try today. mikemccarthy (91) - Huntington, West Virginia, USA - JUN 19, 2012
Pours a clear copper with a thin, white head that stays. Good lacing. A full and gently effervescent mouthfeel. Balanced taste. Good beer.
