Pours a cloudy reddish brown with not much head. Caramel, nut, and a little pine bitterness in the aroma. Taste starts sweet with caramel and some bitterness. Finish is mildly bitter with a little smoke. Nice. jebert (500) - Watertown, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 20, 2013
UPDATED: AUG 21, 2013 Pours a beautiful clear amber with a good sized white-tan head. Nose is parts hop and malt. Very creamy on the palate, taste is a little hoppy, some floral notes that somewhat disguise the malt backbone. A bit of sharpness on the finish. A decent beer, not one of their best, but well suited to those who prefer a little extra hop bitterness to their ale. troyc (2869) - Illinois, USA - APR 28, 2014
[Tap] Darker amber pour with good head and good lacing as well. Caramel, molasses and toasted aromas. The taste is of sticky caramel, wood chips, peat and light floral hops. Not getting much smoke here. Good balance, and one of the few enjoyable beers for me in this style. I would buy this again. Jabswitch (278) - Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 28, 2006
Give this beer a try if you get to GB. Only available on tap at the Hinterland Brewery. (right across the street from the Titletown Brewery, another fine micorbrew). Nice to look at, a fairly rich but not sweet taste. But I really liked the livliness on the palate. It is really a fine beer which I knew nothing about until I gave it a try today. On draught at the brewpub in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Pours a clear coppery amber brew with a creamy off-white head that has good retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, some fruity character with scents of apple, pear and some flowery hops. Taste is lightly carbonated, medium bodied with a smooth caramel malt and mild bitter flavor. Finish is slightly bitter with a multi-grain malt aftertaste that quickly disappears.

UPDATED: MAY 15, 2011 On tap at the Green Bay Brewpub. I normally don’t bother with ambers, but I needed another 8oz sample, so I went with it. Amber brown with a creamy beige head. Malty caramel nose with a touch of hops coming through. Malty caramel flavors that are followed by citrus, apples, and floral hop notes. The hops are fresh and strong for an amber, lingering long in the finish. A tasty and drinkable hopped up amber. 7/3/8/3/15

Sampled at the brewpub in Milwaukee.
Clear amber color with a white head. Caramel sweet touch of hops in the aroma. Sweet with a nice dise if pine grapefruit hops. Solid. 7/3/7/3/14
From the one pint olive-brown colored bottle. No matter how aggressive the pour I can’t get a lot of head but it does have a handsome looking , albeit cloudy, reddish-brown tone. The aroma starts out with sweet malts but there is also a notable floral hoppy character to it. In the end it leans more toward a hoppy scent. The body is thin to moderate. The taste brings out the beer’s bitter qualities more than anything else with a fresh, hoppy finish. This is something I’d have more than once. Cloudy brown with a moderate tan head.
Fruit, tree bark aroma.
Taste is light, malty......just reminds me of tree-like flavours....
Woody, but sweet.
Apple notes, lightly toasted malt.
Very enjoyable. GAManiac (1944) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - JAN 26, 2009
On tap at The Seasons in Appleton.
Pours a deep, clear amber with a small off-white head that recedes to a ring and leaves only a hint of lacing. The aroma is mostly sweet caramel malts with some faint hops and other grains. The taste doesn’t stray far from the aroma with the light caramel malts dominating. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with good carbonation. A drinkable but fairly basic amber. Decent Amber. Aroma is light with some maltiness and hay. Taste is better than the aroma. Very sweet with carmel and malts. Alittle to sticky on the palate, but not bad overall.
