Special cask drawn firkin at the Hinterland Green Bay brewery/brewpub in downtown Green Bay, Wisconsin. Pours a semi-hazy brownish amber colored brew with an average sized off-white head that quickly dissipates and leaves behind some spotty lacing. Aroma of caramel and bourbon and a hint of rum. Taste is full bodied, more bourbon flavor than aroma with a solid full-bodied caramel malt in the background. Finish is quite smooth with a continued bourbon, vanilla, some light smoked peat and caramel malt aftertaste. Very low bitterness. nuplastikk (6277) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 28, 2012
Draft at OF. Thick amber-caramel color, with a steady beige head. Sweet, sugary bourbon laced aroma. Rich caramel tones. The bourbon is certainly there, but melds quite smoothly with the rich malt tones. Bourbon displays itself more and more after each sip. Almost a spicy caramel liqueur. A really well done beer, captures the style and tweaks it up a notch. Good stuff. No hops, but nice. 1FastSTi (3360) - Glendale, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 24, 2010
On tap at Sugar Maple. The beer pours to a maroon body with a thin white head. Aromas of smoked malt, oak, and smoked chub or salmon. Flavor of smoked malts/fish/ and oak. Tannic and sweet palate. tmoreau (4365) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - OCT 20, 2010
Sampled at the Green Bay site. Displayed a clear, brownish amber hue, with bubbly, lasting, light tan head foam, and clingy, ribbony lacing. The aroma was lightly sweet malt, mellow bourbon, a little cask wood, and some earthy hints. Caramel notes were evident in the flavor, along with moderate hop bitterness. The body was more as a medium+ Scottish Ale, with a pleasantly dry finish. Nicely crafted, Joe! arkurzynski (2427) - Combined Locks, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 16, 2010
On tap at Sugar Maple. Deep amber brown. Heavy bourbon aroma, wood. Flavor is malty, but fades quick to bourbon, wood, vanilla, peet. In agreement with previous review - a little thin for style. Great residual. Nice.

Tasted on draft at Hinterland Milwaukee. Pours clear dark amber with a thick tan head that leaves heavy lace. The nose is sweet vanilla and cinnamon oak with a slight smokiness and caramel malt underlying. The flavor starts with the malt notes and a slight acidity, moving onto vanilla and a charred smoky flavor. The sweetness is more present on the nose than the palate. The body is fairly light with decently heavy carbonation and a long charred and somewhat hot finish.
