4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours nearly black with a thick, light brown head.
Scent is coffee roast....smoked wood.
Taste is rich malt, dark coffee....a nice ashy bitter....
Not a hint of sweetness...which I find enjoyable...
Straight and to the point.
pours black with a smallish brown head. Big coffee aroma and the expected toasted malt. Moderately bitter black coffee taste, again with burnt toasted malt. Pleasant slowly fading bitter coffee finish. Really good! muzzlehatch (4975) - Beloit, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 19, 2016
12 ounce bottle from Woodman’s in Janesville, WI, served at cellar temp in a Guinness glass. While the color and texture is much like the near-opaque jet of Guinness or any other proper stout, alas the light tan head is soupy and quick-dying; no time to carve a shamrock or a moon in this foam...a touch of brown sugar arises alongside the dark coffee roastiness of the fairly expressive nose; there might be a bit of vanilla here as well but it’s shifty and subtle...on the tongue, surprisingly, no sweetness at all, just a heavy bitter chocolate-coffee roast throughout with a long bitter finish and an unfortunate hint of cardboard...the body could be a little fuller; carbonation a bit on the low side. Overall it’s reasonably well made, and the cardboard notes I mentioned fade over a few minutes of sipping, but I can’t say it really excites, and the fairly one-dimensional bitterness just doesn’t do it for me - if you love dry stouts it may be more up your alley. djd07 (16298) - Houston, Texas, USA - JUL 6, 2016

Packers suck. This beer is good. You get plenty of coffee. Pretty carbonated for the style.

A nice dark brown pour with a finger of creamy head that lasts most of the beer. Coffee, maybe even vanilla on the nose. Full roasty body, bitter coffee, maybe espresso? with a dry finish that lingers. demannu (451) - New Jersey, USA - DEC 27, 2015
