3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Very strong maple aroma and very sweet taste on a light bodied and easy to drink beer.
Pretty brown ale, tasty, drinkable… if it weren’t on the label, I don’t think I’d detect maple syrup. Pours dark brown, clear, effervescent, with a big, creamy, long lasting head. Aroma roasted grain. Taste starts faintly sweet, with a roasty dry finish. Medium body palate. Overall very pleasant, drinkable beer… nicely balanced winter brew. Bottle in cellar. Poured at home in a snifter. Deep brown with a modest off-white head. Aroma is big maple, biscuit, brown sugar, caramel, cocoa nibs. The taste is similar with cocoa nibs, nuts, caramel, burnt wood, and Wurthers candies. Medium body and carb. Slight bitter finish and then sweet. Draft at Fishale. Nice dark chestnut color with a head of tiny tan bubbles. Light aroma of chocolate, caramel malt and oddly enough crayons. Flavor is okay for a bock but I’m missing the maple. Fine. TXBadger (2811) - Dallas, Texas, USA - MAR 25, 2015
Pours a dark brown color with tan colored head. Maple, molasses, sweet dsrk fruits, raisins and dates on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with maple syrup like sweetness. Aurelius (5652) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - JAN 31, 2015
Dark mossy aroma, dubbel-esque. Clear dark root beer black-brown. Thin khaki head. Dry, woody, a little dark malt comes through. Earthy moss tones and some tannic acidity. Medium body, a little astringent. Didn’t like. Growler County.

Tallahassee, Fl - ABC Fine Wine & Spirits - Betton - pint bottle. Deep, dark brown pour, thin, but persistent khaki colored head that clings to the edge of the glass. Aroma has a hint of maple sweetness, some dates and raisins, could be a bit bolder. Flavor is solidly bock-like, raisins, dates, a hint of chocolate, just a wee-bit of the advertised maple. Decently thick mouthfeel. Not bad, just nothing jumps out about it. troyc (2869) - Illinois, USA - APR 28, 2014
[Tap] Pours a very dark shade of brown with little head. Sweet aroma is mostly of molasses, but with hints of maple as well. Taste is of brown sugar, caramel, dough and lots of chalky/grainy dark malts. Syrupy character. The flavor profile seems a little disjointed between the chalky malts and syrupy maple, but it was OK. eworkman1 (50) - - FEB 9, 2014
Big malt aroma and flavor. It's bock fest where I'm at and this one is a welcome change of pace. Draught pour is ruby dark and the maple background is delightful. ryanscourt (1567) - Latrobe, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 21, 2013
Sour. Initially didn’t like to much but grew on me and thought it was ok. Not sweet like maple but tart.

Bottle. Pours dark. Not very sweet but a touch of maple. Chocolatey and rich.
