12 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy yellow with a quickly dissipating white head. The aroma is is not clean, it smells like caramel malt. The taste is OK, but the hop bitterness is quite low and the residual sweetness from the overuse of caramel malts is quite apparent. Aroma is malts, light fruit and a hint of nuttiness. The flavor is nutty malts, fruit/berries, a hint of oak/wood and a long and slightly funky/sour/tart finish.

12 ounce bottle from Badger Spirits in Janesville, WI, served a few minutes out of the fridge in a Coors Banquet glass. A loud fizz and the liquid very nearly gushes, filling the glass and then creeping up in the bottle faster than the foam settles in the glass above the very pale yellow-gold bubbly body...I’ve had this beer before a few times and never seen that happen, so I’m hoping there’s no infection problem....nose is fairly weak, grainy with a touch of honey and an odd bit of mint...on the tongue it’s quite sweet for a pils, without much carbonation, slightly syrupy/sticky, only the faintest trace of hops at the finish, a bit soapy. Well, I think this might be a bad bottle, because this has certainly been better before; then again this brewery isn’t incredibly consistent in my experience so I’m going to let the chips (and the beer) fall as they may and rate it for what it is. Poured a hazy golden amber. Initially had a foamy white head that dropped to just a film very quickly. The cloudy appearance took away from the look of a crystal clear pilsner. The aroma was yeasty and bready with some roasted malt sweetness. There was a decent amount of carbonation that gave a nice refreshing taste to the beer. The flavor was mostly sweet roasted malt with a bit of hops bite coming through towards the middle. The finish was more refreshing as the sweetness faded away and the mild hops crispness lingered. Tap at The Old Fashioned in Madison, WI. Clear gold pour with weaker foam. Nose is canned pear. As it warms, diacetyl comes through. Sweeter flavor with white grape juice, more canned pear. Good body, but the flavors are all wrong.
