Saison has a golden hue with an ample two finger head. A lemon-citrus aroma fills the nose. Brewed with Belgian specialty malts and a multitude of spices. Starts crisp citrus flavor and leaves a spicy pepper finish.

Drake (14447) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 31, 2017
12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Milwaukee. Slightly hazy amber, large foamy off-white head, good retention. Aroma of yeast, apple, spice, bread. The taste is spicy, yeast, bread, dandelion, herbal notes, plum. Medium bodied, earthy, lingering spice. Solid.

muzzlehatch (4977) - Beloit, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 17, 2016
12 ounce bottle from Badger Spirits in Beloit, WI. Cellar temperature, Duvel glass. Pours a dark translucent amber-orange, nearly opaque, with a smallish diminishing head; I’ve had other bottles of this over the past couple of years that spewed forth a huge amount of froth, so I don’t know if this is fresher, or something changed, or what; I bought this just a couple of days ago. Aroma is, as noted by Ernest below, closer to what you’d think of for a Wit, or even a Hefeweizen - banana, lemon - though there are some herbal/floral notes apparent, eventually....a bit closer to "saison" on the tongue though; peppery, woody, lightly sour/tart, faintly sweet upfront but quite dry at the finish, with a lingering note of ash and bitter herbs. Quite full mouthfeel, moderate carbonation. True-to-style or not this is one of my go-to summer beers over the last couple of years and seems to go particularly well with Indian food which is what I cook most often. Anyway, a nice little beer for the price and one of Hinterland’s better products.

JPDIPSO (6317) - Wauwatosa, USA - APR 29, 2016
Hazed golden liquid. Moderate sized off-white head. Resin, pale malt, cloves, pepper, herbs and mild citrus in the scents. Flavors have a mix of a golden, weiss, and saison. Weeds at the fall harvest come to mind. Quite fitting. 4/12

seuinoz (260) - Glen Ellyn, Illinois, USA - APR 3, 2016
The Aroma is lemon with hints of ground black pepper. Appearance no visible head on this beer dark yellow in color with an unfiltered haze. Taste. Black pepper with lemon zest. No bitterness with this beer. Pepper stays with you well after beer is sipped.medium body. Will try again.

ganache (6137) - New Jersey, USA - FEB 13, 2016
Bottle. Nose huge lemon with cream, touch of lavender, rose, coriander aromatics, subtle spice with the heavy flowers and citrus. Doesn’t gush but requires an incredibly patient multi-pour, as the clear golden base supports a soapy beige head nine times bigger. Eventually laces and leaves some oily legs. Taste strongly tart combined with a double alcohol and spice burn, heat going down the throat into the chest; black pepper and its intensely pungent (its scratchiness reminds of capsaicin), floral sides with a grainy-pils middle and a little rubbery astringency on exit. Light hops are citric-herbs and soapy, light-medium bitterness, dries out, a little numbing from many factors. Medium body but much fuller with the heavy carbonation, touch chalky. A honking wallop of a saison and a little too-straightforward, but still enjoyable. [2016.01.13: 3.5]

gripweed57 (3098) - Hamilton Square, New Jersey, USA - FEB 12, 2016
12 ounce bottle. Pours a hazy honey gold color topped by a massive pillowy white head that stays around. Yeasty malt nose has bready notes. Flavor is sharp bready malt and hay. Some bitterness. Some clove and vanilla. Complex and spicy with earthy notes. Spicy hops in finish have grassy, citrus notes. I liked this a lot. Don’t understand why ratings are so low. Excellent example of a Farmhouse Ale.

glennmastrange (2957) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - JAN 19, 2016
Bottle. Moderate hay and straw for the malt, moderate grass for the hops, soap and sweat for the yeast, with wood and faint unripe pear in the background. Head is huge, frothy, white with good lacing and is fully lasting. Flavor starts moderately to heavily acidic, then finishes moderately to heavily acidic, moderately bitter and a touch sour. Palate is completely wiped out by the overly fizzy carbonation. A fairly good smelling saison, but the flavor is a bit out of balance and the carbonation is rediculous

dmac (6646) - Toms River, New Jersey, USA - DEC 10, 2015
12oz bottle from Xroads. Poured a medium density clear rusty gold body with rising effervescence and a huge rocky bright white head. Aroma of wet bread, spice, wheat, rotting citrus, apples. Flavor is more grain with light white pepper, some lemon zest and white grape skins. Body is way to big and bubbly, average duration on the aftertaste. Meh.

Clarkdvm (548) - Florida, USA - DEC 6, 2015
Draft. Smells like cleaner. Tastes like lemon wheat lager. Bit more bitter than expected
