Pours a pretty gold color with a medium sized white head. Nose is fairly bland. on a weak malt aroma evident. Viscosity and creaminess are only average-has good carbonation. Taste is mostly malt, true to the Vienna style, with hops presence on finish. Only an average beer- pairs well though with a turkey club sandwich. Pours cloudy amber with a good, light tan head.
Bready, toffee aroma.
Flavour is sweet, malty, caramel with a dry bittering finish.
Nice, subtle hopping....
Very mild, but pretty good. Headbanger (3999) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - APR 20, 2013
16oz bottle 4/20/13 (Binny’s Naperville Clearance Rack)-44° in Mug-Pours medium copper with a small off white head. Aroma of malt, caramel, and toffee, bread, and slight fruit. Taste of malt, fruit, sweetness, and hops. This medium bodied brew is well balanced and not overly malty. I’m not a fan of this style but this is darn tasty. queenholly (3623) - South Whitley, Indiana, USA - MAR 27, 2013
Bottle. Fruity bready caramel malt aroma. Hazy orange amber with a moderat off-white head. Toasty vegetal malt, dry bitter herbal flavor. Medium body, astringent mouth feel. b3shine (8874) - Indiana, USA - NOV 18, 2012
16 oz bottle to pint. Looks solid; a transparent copper with fluffy off-white head that dissipates into sticky lacing. Smells solid; semi-sweet, hoppy, and malty. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. A good example of the style.

Bottle sample at the Hinterland tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 9/20/12. Clear amber pour with a medium beige head. Malty nose with crisp noble hop notes. Malty flavor with a bitter hop finish. tmongoose (2504) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - OCT 3, 2012
Pint bottle shared. Orangish brown color with off white head. Nice aroma of sweet malt. Has a good solid malt backbone. Get some hop action on the back end. Don’t feel this is overly hopped. But does have a smooth finish. Almost cloyingly sweet on the back end. Pretty decent for Oktoberfest. cheap (5860) - Beaver Valley, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 1, 2012
UPDATED: DEC 1, 2013 I love these rather large bottles of hinterland. Big pounder bottle, quite unique in packaging. I’ll give it any extra 0.1 out of 5 for the bottle glass. Nice interesting aroma which is clean yet hint of tartness in the olfactory. Some bitter bite but it fades during the session. Decent kick without an in your face alky rudeness. Goes down with a litlle bit of a hinderance, oops, I mean hinterness, heheh. Yes, perhaps more hops than I care for ina fest. Somewhat medium dull bitter finish. Perhaps a little clying at times, maybe an old bottle, a few months. heemer77 (5358) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - SEP 29, 2012
Bottle. A medium copper colored brew with a thin light khaki head. The nose has fall leaves and peanuts. This tastes of toffee and peanuts. There is also some tasty toffee. A little bit of wood in the finish. Well made. wlajwl (6812) - Quad Cities, Iowa, USA - SEP 27, 2012
The aroma is toasted malts, yeast and citrus. The flavor is malts, citrus, a hint of berries and a mildly bitter finish.
