Amber with medium head.
Dusty bready malt. Light woody hop.
Bit thin on the palate. Toasted malt, biscuity, light caramel and a touch of woody bitterness.

16 ounce bottle. Served in a mug, the beer pours a clear orange/amber color with an inch off-white head that sticked around for a while. There’s also a good amount of lacing. Aroma is caramel malt, light grassy hops and a bit of fruit. It tastes like caramel and bready/grainy malt, green hops and some nuts. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s a bit creamy with moderate carbonation. It’s also smooth and easy to drink. I’d buy it again, it’s a good beer. $9.99 a 4-pack. brewblackhole (1588) - Muskego, Wisconsin, USA - SEP 16, 2010
Bready, but more bold solid malting ,has a slight crystal malt aspect to it,almost a honeyed tea aspect to it,head is very light not much going on in the way of carbonation, taste is a solld malt flavor, the kind that only well done Oktoberfest’s can capture. I love that sweet toast,no hop aspect of this style, and Hinterland has captured all the best facets of it.Looks like it might be flat, but it isnt at all,one of those brews you can be content to suck on your tongue for a while after each swallow, hope that doesnt sound wierd FunkyBrewster (1518) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - SEP 11, 2011
Nice beer, good all around, already rated, somehow lost the rating. had a rating, so summed up. Nice oct beer. Nice fall flavors, sweet malty bready notes More crisp and hoppy. still with some nice malty notes. The balance is there and it is a comfortable fall beer. 16 oz bottle from Binny’s downtown Chicago. smooth caramel lager appearance and aroma with a hint of european hops - not so "highly hopped" as the description but nicely balanced. more of a typical dunkel/vienna than an octoberfest beer, but it’s quite appropriate for the season. medium-to-full body and balanced with a nice smooth finish. very enjoyable.

On tap at Hinterland. Pours a clear copper color with medium off-white head that fades quickly leaving some nice ring like lacing. The aroma is light biscuit, sweet malt, caramel and spicy floral hops. Taste is much the same with teh floral aspect being more pronounced in this then other Oktoberfests where they are more malt forward. It’s not to say that this isn’t malt forward, it just has more of a hop backbone then other Oktoberfests I’ve had. Lightly carbonated and has a bitter and semi-dry finish. Caramel, citrus, and bready aroma. Golden-copper with off-white head. Malt sweet caramel front and balancing hop bitter finish. Full bodied, with a medium bitter finish. DasBierChef (1083) - Hudson, Wisconsin, USA - SEP 14, 2011
Pours a clear copper with thin white head. Aroma is mostly malty with some caramel notes coming through as well as some spice. Taste is malty up front with more caramel and roasty notes. A bit of hoppyness comes through on the end with a slightly bitter finish. Good mouthfeel. Overall an enjoyable, sessionable Marzen. Originally reviewed: 10/17/10. Bottle split with my wife. Poured my allotment into a giant mug. Pours a slightly hazy dark amber/orange with a thick, foamy, white head on top. Retained fair enough; left no lace behind. Scents of grains, sweet caramel, brown sugar.
Great mellow smoothness in the body. Perfect heft for this style. Superb balance in flavor, as the sweetness comes forward, but not cloyingly. Mild bitterness with just the right amount of hop presence. Finish was bready and warming. Absolute splendid Festbier. My favorite of the year, and maybe my favorite O’fest over all. Kickin’ good beer.
