The first beer to be brewed by this historic brewery when it set up as a service station refreshing Knights and Merchants passing along the ancient Venice - Vienna trade route. Only available on draught, this reminds me of a full-bodied early evolution of Dreher’s Viennese brew. Sweet and hoppy with deep roasted and caramelised malty undertones. Light red, good and heavy foam. A little roasty smell well balanced between sweet malty taste and nice hoppy bitternes klukas (271) - Rijeka, CROATIA - FEB 8, 2017
Enjoyed: On tap (into a mug; Me Gusta Gourmet Pub in Rijeka)
Appearance: Clear red copper colour, with lively small but steady head.
Aroma: Barley, malt.
Palate: Medium to full body, with perfect medium carbonation.
Taste: Bread, grains, gentle bitter with bitterish aftertaste.
Overall impression: Very tasty and enjoyable, which is not surprising from this brewery. Real beer, like beer used to be. KyotoLefty (10264) - Kyoto, JAPAN - MAR 22, 2010
Draught in the cafe next to the Vienna City Hall. Quite dark Amber color, with a nice head. I wasn’t expecting a Vienna lager. It has a slightly malty aroma, but not a very strong one. It has a malty, slightly caramelly taste though not really sweet. Sightly burnt, dry, and hoppy. It’s very interesting. Dry, slightly burnt finish. It’s a really great beer, similar to the SiebenStern Maerzen. I had never seen beer quite like this from a major brewery here. Love it. Furseth (2161) - Kungälv, SWEDEN - MAR 20, 2011

Nice bold amber brew with a very thin head. A gentle swirl of the glass made a beautiful medium tan tight and glistening head. Sweet caramel, toasty goodness, dates and maybe a dull spiceless pumpkin. Great flavours here - I think I’d drink this style more if this was available. Of note - actually drinking this after a short visit to the freezer. Sweet bold caramel toasty stuff, light tang just before the finish, very malty, mild mild spice, ya. Well carbonated, good attentive mouthfeel. Thankfully CBC is playing classic NHL games tonight! My bum itches Cornfield (5570) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - JAN 24, 2007
This pours a rich orange body with a slender head that does some sporadic lacing. The aroma is a sweet, wort-like smell with a bit of caramel added. The flavor is very sweet, too much so for me, and I’d like it a lot more if that was cut somewhat by some additional hops. As is, there’s only a very modest earthy bitterness to it. The finish is malty sweet and sticky.jbrus (4990) - Delft, NETHERLANDS - MAY 13, 2008

Aroma of malts, caramel and lightly spiced. Amber color, beige head, good lace. Malty, caramel, milkchocolate, light bitter, hint of herbs. Pleasant and easy going.
Amber color, small and delisicious beige head what dissappears quickly. Some roasted malt aroma with a bit fruity perfume. Roasted malt flavour with a little hoppy taste, sweety chocolate and caramell, some fruity taste. Smooth mouthfeel. Nice, drinkable one. greenclansman (906) - Nicosia, CYPRUS - FEB 7, 2012
Clear amber color, to the more darker side.
Aromas of bread,yeast.
Crisp taste of bread and yeast. Earthy tone with some dry hops at the end.
Some brown sugar hints.
Nice beer, but not my style.
