COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Hirter Morchl is not just a unique brand – its production method also differs from that of other dark beers. The beer’s seductive color is due to the dark brewing malt, hops and caramel malt, while its smooth taste comes from the soft mountain spring water used in the brewing process. Left to mature in a prolonged aging process, it’s GMO-free, non-pasteurized and completely natural. Beer lovers will appreciate its dry maltiness on the palate and pleasantly rounded, faintly bitter finish. 12.8°

Pours dark brown with tiny light brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel and floral/fruity hops. Taste is sweet - Fruity caramel, with dry and sligthly dry / sweet finish. Medium body, soft carbonation and bitterness. Drinkable, but not superlative.

Malty and nice beginning. Dry, fresh. Malty and round, Sweetish-malty. Hints of nuts, of caramel with not too much bitterness. Nice and solid Dunkel. Dry-malty, round, easy to drink and fresh.

bartlebier (4123) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - MAR 10, 2015
50cl bottle bb06/2015 (DLG Gold 2014) courtesy of werckmeister, merci. Fine redbrown pour with deep beigish foam. Sulphury nose of toasted Graubrot and maroni caramels. Dry caramel, more toast and a dry chestnutty fruitiness keeping it all together, while allowing for some cream and a subtle hop profile. Fine Dunkel with that slightly sulphurous sour roast touch.

UPDATED: AUG 6, 2015 0,5l bottle. Yes thats probably the best Dunkles you can get in Austria. Outstanding drinkability for a Dunkles. Edit: I had this beer several times in the last months and it is still growing. I really like the light roasty aroma and taste, followed by a bittersweet finish. For sure the best Dunkles I had so far.

Trolleo (1742) - Pula / Zagreb, CROATIA - NOV 5, 2014
UPDATED: JUN 18, 2017 Clear dark brown color, small off-white head. Aroma is mostly roasted malts. Thin body, a bit creamy. Soft carbonation. Not bad, but I thin score of 99 in style is a little bit too much.

Not what I was expecting. Not very good, sadly. Sour and kind of gross in flavor, frankly.

An exceptional dunkel. Dark brown, light roasted body. Easy drinking with a sweet aftertaste. Tried with Jess at the Grunauer in KC in 2014.
