Bottle (diky, Quack-Ducku !): Deep ruby-amber coloured with a quite persistent, fluffy beige head; moderate to stronger, dryish roast-malty nose with a sweet caramelly background; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied; solid caramelly, but mainly dry roast-malty finish. Had this at Elferhaus, Innsbruck 31.05.12 Pours reddy brown with good clarity and a light tan head. Very soft and smooth in the mouth, quite subtle compared to a typical German Dunkel. Some caramel and a little bitterness are the underpinning characteristics of this beer. A little mushroomy on the nose, fruity (dark fruits) with a slight tanginess. Good but no great shakes.

Very dark brown, almost opaque. Good head. Faint aroma, a hint of roasted malt and caramel. Tastes more burnt and coffee-like than any other Austrian dark I have tried to date. A dark lager, but somewhat stout-like. Only slightly sweet, not a whole lot of hops either, but well balanced. Great malt.
